help me fix my ac please :)

Ok so as you may or may not know, I messed up my ac w/ the SC install and lost all my freon to the atmosphere. Well, I have since fixed the leak, and now I am trying to figure out how to recharge my AC. Any help on that subject?

I have turned on the comprssor and hooked up the freon, and the can gets cold (or got cold at first) and I can see the AC clutch turn on, spin for like 2 seconds, click off... wait 2 sec... click on for 2 sec.... click off 2 sec... etc etc. This will repeate as long as the ac is turned on in the car.

What is going on? Is the line charging or is something else wrrong? Please help Its hottttt

You should have a certian amount of pressure or lbs of freon in there for the pump to operate. I know that much. I didn't think it needed to be on when you are charging it but I never did a stang. You probably need two of those little bottles at least in there.

Does the can say Freon or R-22 on it? If so, you'll get to take your system to a mechanic to have him fix it.

Your Mustang takes R-134a refrigerant. Have you said Freon but really have R-134a?

I mean 134a. The guy at autozone said you charge it by hooking up the can and turning the compressor on. I know it will take more then one can to fully charge it says I need about 2 lbs or so... one can is 12 oz.

I need to get the first can in to add another haha. Any body got any other ideas? Im not taking it to a mechanic... I can do it w/ some knowhow I think.

ok got it working. Finally.

Its good to know that It takes up to 10 min to discharge a can of 134a into the system. I thought it wasnt working when It was just going really slow.

I now have ice cold AC thanks for the help guys

BTW for future reference, it takes 2.2lbs of 134a to "fully" charge the system. That comes out to about 40ish psi.
