Sorry I may be a little late, but I have set up 3 professional race trucks and from that experience, I would be opposite of what everyone on here says about set up.

What you would have to do to be the most controlled is to get the most traction possible without over doing it. An adjustable sway bar is your friend here, you'll want to stiffen that up quite a bit to prevent too much body roll, but your D-specs would be the opposite. Quite Soft rebound to allow the shocks to come out very quickly and respond with the road surface, stay predictable, and not hop from any deviations in the road. Then your compression would also be not quite as soft as the rebound but still soft. This allows you to get the most traction out of your tires as soon as you initiate the drift and then stays predictable.

As for starting the drift, you're best off turning a little bit before the corner starts then quickly turn out then back in hard, and as soon as you turn in hard give it some gas and let off to whip it out and continue the drift.

Would be better if he could connect his drifts better or make them last longer. Also that car sounds like popping popcorn.

I agree with most of what you said. An adjustable rear sway bar is great for tuning in how much oversteer you want on the car. I like just a hint of oversteer but then again I also open track the car so, since I don't drift or road race professionally, that set up works for me in both disciplines. I used the stock front sway bar as a base to tweek the rear adjustable I have on the car and it's served me well so far. The feel I like is that when the back end starts to go out it feels as if the car is rotating on a pole that is dead center to the car.

I also agree that if you truly want to squeeze as much performance out of your suspension for drifting soft bump and droop from your shocks will help. How much really depends on your driving experience.

Turn initiation technique is spot on......
