Sorry to thread jack real quick, but I have a similar problem to this. I have a 180* stat in my car, and when on the freeway my car is either at, or just above, 180* but when I'm on the streets (not in 5th gear) it will get as hot as 230*. What the hell do I do?

so i figured it out, and the fuse was blown, but i got thinking... fuck, to blow a 50 amp maxi takes alot, and generally, if a fuse blew once, itl blow again, so i went to the fan and spun them by hand and noticed the blades had alot of resistence, and when i got a wire and put it in the fuse holder spot, the wire got real hot, so that led me to know that the fan motor was bad and was pulling alot, so solution,

new fan motor.

mine used to do that.. I got a fluidyne radiator and put more water in the coolant and it helped a lot.. usually won't get more than 195 degrees now.. it used to get to 230 and beyond with the stock radiator.. it was crazy hot

My coolant light is permanently on. You probably need to clean the sensor out or replace it.

Not to thread jack again, but would this be good to do at the track? Or run a lower thermostat? I usually pop the hood undo the radiator cap and leave the air vents on in the car and let it blow out with just the ignition on.

^wouldnt hurt, if youre not happy with the temps best thing to do is to get a better radiator. In the guy above's case where it just gets hot as hell sitting a light dropping the fan kick on temp should help out a little.

Okay thanks ajm, because i popped my radiator cap last time i was waiting in line for the brackets to get through and alot of pressure came out lol. Didnt think it was that hot since i hadn't ran it in a while, but it was a hot night too. I was just figuring if I was running a little lower temp i could run a tad bit better time.
