Engine Temp Gauge "OUT OF ORDER"?

I recently added white faced gauges that ChrisJ sold me and they are great looking but the temp gauge read a tad high so I thought I had better change it and afterwards and since then the temp gauge goes to past half way when the car is started or the key/ignition in the on/run position. This is exactly the position the needle would take with fullbattery voltage appliedas I testedthat with an old gauge as Chris supplied me with the whole set of gauges! The temp gauge(and possibly the fuel gauge) is/are way too high and should not have voltage or the high amount until the temp goes up or the tank is full(not sure if it had been filled). What could be causing this? The temp sending unit is woprking and after the motor gets warm it has pegged that gauge and it is possible the fuel gauge is high and the tank not filledbut that seems to be pegged also. My Haynes manual shows both the temp and fuel gauges having something called a "SLOSH MODULE" in common but I have no idea what this is. Why would the temp gauge have full voltage applied with the ignition in the run position when the engine is COLD???!! Thanks, mark

Bro I really have no clue...

They read fine on my car...Have you tried taking the negative battery cable off and letting it sit for 30...Then putting the key in the ignition and turn it to on (Just before it is in the crank position)...Let the gauges do there test...Then start the car up and let it run for 20 minutes without touching the gas and see if it fixes it...

Well I have had the cable removed when removing the dash pad. It is strange as the first time I put the gauges in there was just the temp reading a bit high as I had mentioned. So I had time and extra gauges so I thought I would change that one out or check tosee if the needle was just a tad off but all seemed well and then it was past the halfway point when the key is in the on/run position whether I start the motor or just turn the ignition to that position. I tried testing a spare gauge with some wires and a spare battery and the needle on the gauge acted just like the one in the car, it jumped up and stayed but of course without a connection to the ECM it would stay. However that is just what the gauge is doing, acting like it has full battery voltage applied to it in that ignition position and that position is hot but something should not allow the gauge to see that much voltage. Don't know what and have never heard of a slosh gauge. I'll put the dash pod back in and se what happens but the last time I let it run it just pegged the gauge as it got warmer. The fuel gauge may be off now also but not sure but a scematic in my Haynes has both gauges somehow wired to a sloch module but I saw no strange thing on the circuit board! man I hate having electrical trouble! Thanks Chris, mark

It also does seem to be affecting the fuel gauge also. Reading too high. Anyone an electrical guru here?
