Insurance...
Well, I've recently been starting my shopping for a new New Edge. I'm just curious if say Saleen or Mach 1 insurance is higher than a GT? I've heard that the VIN comes back as a GT so in insurance agency wouldn't say anything. Is there any truth to this?
I'm soon to be trading mine in on something hopefully as a GT or Mach, but if the insurance is higher, I might just have to stick with the GT. I'm hoping one of you would know to not because I wouldn't want to run around and ask State Farm for the difference to send up red flags when I do make my next purchase.

I cant answer your question, but I would say that if a $5 difference in car insurance is the reason you didn't get a mach, shame on you.

It depends on your insurance agency. I know that with my old insurance, they didn't have a difference between the GT and Cobra. You could just check around and get quotes from each one.

Didn't want to take out a loan for my car
![]() I'm all for buying a slightly used GT500 when I graduate and switching back to my old insurance company though!

My insurance company can tell the difference between a GT, Bullitt, Mach 1, and Cobra.
I pay $34.00 a month for full coverage on my Bullitt my '03 cobra cost me $69.00 per month. My insurance company also will not insure specialty cars like a Cobra on anyone under 25 years of age.

Herd if you want to insure a saleen or roush you have to tell them you want to insure it "at cost" because the vin does come back as a gt model.

34 is extremely cheap for full coverage. Do you have a $5,000 dollar deductible?

insurance has a number of factors on the end price. varies from agency to agency.
I have full coverage through USAA, on my own (not listing parents as primary driver), for my 99 GT its 600 every 6 months. i'm 24 and have no accidents on record, two speeding tickets from when I was 18-20 Next year I'm hoping insurance drops! |

I have Erie Insurance. All carry $500.00 deductibles.
But, I insure the following through them. 2001 Bullitt (Considered a "Pleasure" Car) 2000 Camaro SS (Considered a "Pleasure" Car) 2004 F-250 Powerjoke (Truck to pull my car trailer) 2008 Mustang v6 (My Daily Driver) 2009 Pontiac G8 (Wifes Daily Driver) 2004 17.5' Bayliner Bowrider (Boat) And my Home I keep full coverage on everything. I am also 31 years old with perfect driving history and good credit. Which are both factors in your insurance rates.

I wish my insurance only cost me that much. I used to live in IN and it was nice and cheap then I got stationed in VA where the insurance was stupid expensive and now I'm in Germany where it is costing over 1k a year just for the wife's minivan and I'm 30. FML!

It really depends on the company each one has different rules and rating systems they use. Your best bet is to call your agency and see what they say. I ask mine if I were to add insurance due to my engine mods, IE the supercharger would it affect my rate and the answer no. They just add the value of the mods to the principle of car.

I just get dicked over on insurance because I'm a guy under 25. It's a little less than $100 a month for my Stang.
And for Progressive the only models of mustangs are GT and Cobra so I'm assuming Machs and bullitts are insured as GT's through them

You also have to consider coverage though... if you total your Mach, will the insurance company only reimburse you for a GT?
