I am a big audio buff and I think the Mach system sounds pretty crappy (sorry ford)

Its just bad speaker placement IMO. I would not have those tweeters/mid-ranges right in your face. (although you cant really put them anywhere else).

However, I test drove a 2010 gt last week and it sounded MUCHHHHH better

Not that I listen to the radio much anyways, I prefer the natural sound of the motor

i have the 460. stock receiver sounded ok, but the Alpine CDA-105 I added does indeed improve the sound.

night and day.

maybe its me, but when i changed out my mach stereo with an aftermarket one, pioneer mind you. since the speakers couldnt handle the power it sounded like shit. i eventually went back to that stock raido. sounds much better.

The Mach 460 system is not good at all.

Mine sounds pretty good. Came with the car, added in a Alpine head unit and it sounds even better. Waiting on my custom box and then going to put two Kenwood subs and Kenwood amp in the back. I think that will do it.
