MACH 460 Audio question

I know everyone's first answer to this question is going to be take out the MACH 460 stereo and put in a good stereo but I will ask anyway.

Does anyone notice a big difference in the audio level on the MACH 460 between radio and CD? Mine is very loud on CD but on Radio you can turn it all the way up and its just a little loud. The CD is way more crisp and much louder. I was wondering if this was normal or if maybe I have an amp with a channel bad or something?

You're experiencing the differnence in audio quality and signal strengh between CD and FM radio. The CD will always sounds better and louder. I was a big audio freak back in the day. Subs and systems sounded so much better on CD.

Just think of the radio and how far that signal has to travel. Add in all the natural environmental distortion and you have a good but not perfect signal.

All normal...mine is the same way.

cd is louder, even when you add an aux in to the mac 460, but it still gets plenty loud haha.

I am so busy listening to awesomeness of my motor and exhaust note to realize my car even has a stereo in it.

Ok, I was pretty sure it was normal but I guess the FM receiver is just that crappy. I mainly wanted to know how the other MACH460's sounded. I am still a little suprised it is THAT much of a difference.

i have been happy with the mach system, but i got rid of the headunit due to not being able to effectively play my ipod in there and the cd player started eating cd's. i personally perfer the stock head unit as i've lost a little sound quality (bass) but am not quite ready to rip out the factory amps and speakers for better ones. at some point i'm sure i will.

i love my mach audio system, i wired in 2 after market 12" subs with an amp and my shit may not be competition material, but it sounds amazing, subs hit excellent, and im still using the 6 disc changer

it may not have the most advanced EQ but if you arent a dumbass and know how to level shit right, this is a system worth keeping

a lot of people just crank the music up until their ears bleed and curse the audio system when the speakers blow *sigh*

my mach 460 has improved 10-fold since I got my alpine head-unit in.

Ipod plug right in, cd sounds just as good.

and hoenstly, aside form the occasional non-HD-radio static, the radio tuner sounds fantastic too, tighter bass than before.

for the casual car-audio listener, you will notice a big difference with a good, quality aftermarket unit installed in place of the factory tuner/cd/cassette.

tweak the eq to your liking, sounds great!

I have an expensive dual din and the quality is just as good as the stock head unit, just the dual din looks better. I think Ford did a good job on the Mach 460

Thanks for the input. My car is a 99 so I don't have a double din, I have two seperate units. I think I may benefit from just adding a new head unit then. I do have a XM receiver that I would like to be able to plug in too. It does make sense that the FM receiver unit is just not as good as CD unit since they are two different units.

i'll eventually replace my head unit as well but the reason i didnt do it to begin with was i couldnt find the right end to plug into the after market unit and still utilize the mach audio system, so i just got this little box thing that splices into the wires of the rear speakers and hooked my subs up like that
