Thought a grille delete was supposed to be an easy install..
I got my 2 piece grille delete from StandMods today and it didnt come with hardware... the bottom piece seems almost like its a hair too small and doesnt sit flat... and how do I secure the 4 posts in the bottom piece??

Have some pics or a better explanation. Im having trouble following what youre saying. Never had to do one before so cant picture what youre talking about off the top of my head. Little more info and im pretty sure i can help you out though.

I will put up some pics tomorrow when its bright out if no one can answer this....
but there is 4 "posts" on the bottom of the grille delete that stick down into the bumper (for alignment) and I dont know how to secure them down, so they dont just pop up and move out of place.

"press on lock washers"
![]() ![]() Cant think of the technical name but get you 4 of those from the parts store, set them on the "posts/dowels" then take a socket bigger than the dowel, yet smaller than the diameter than the washer, id say a 8mm or so, and use it and a hammer to tap it onto the dowel. You could also use a speed nut but the above is much better. |

NoviCane - Mach 1 Grill Installation His looks a lot more secure... but i dont know if I want to go through all of that trouble...

Its up to you. One way or the other i doubt it would go anywhere once its clipped to the header panel up top so no use in doing more than needed, to add to that. It definitely wont go anywhere with the above or a speed nut. Only reason I dont like speednuts is theyre very easy to over tighten and tear shit up with. With the press on lock washer you just tap it in place and youre done. If you ever have to pull the grill off flip up each of the tabs with a mini pick, and theyll slip right off, lay them on the ground, beat the tabs back down with a hammer, slip them on and youre good to go.
Not too sure if a parts store will have the press on lock washers. But im pretty sure homedepot/lowes/whatever carries them. Prolly 20 cents each if that. Last edited by ajm; June 26th, 2010 at 02:51 AM. |

I never put the 4 screws back on my grille delete from the stock grille. There is a bit of a gap but not bad at all.

I heard double sided tape and a heat gun do wonders for the install.

Man, glad I got the three piece. No trip to Lowes, no double stick tape, and no gaps. With no hassle install.
