2002 gt not running??? had multiple missfires not running!!
Hi i'm new to this forum....
MY 2002 mustang gt isn't currently running... A week ago I had codes for the mass air flow sensor saying it was running to lean... and the car was jerking sometimes at around 1500rpms in 4th or 5th gear.. I cleared the codes and it was fine.... Then he check engine light came on and had multiple misfires at 1000 rpms and then 1,3,5 ,7 cylinders had misfires. and the car was jerking badly at 1500 rpms... and would shut off sometimes... the the check engine light would flash and i would have no power at all... I replaced the plugs and the car ran amazing for like 30 minutes. It shut off on the highway and wont start.... no spark I have fuel pressure but no spark... the car started for 2 seconds on starting fluid... I did notice the steeda timing adjuster is alittle loose on the crank pulley.... The car has comp cams, bbk long tube headers, off road h-pipe, flowmaster exhaust... please let me know any information.... Or what fuse does what in car and under hood. Thanks again!!! |

check the tip of your crank shaft position sensor for scratches or any thing stuck to it. i would get rid of the timing ajuster all together and get a tuner. in the end it may cost you more to keep it than what it is worth. leaving the sensor in the open like that is not a good thing and the spacing the pick up has to be is so tight that many pickups get damaged

haha is the code you pulled on the maf something like p1172 or 1052? sounds like the same symptoms i had with my car after spinning my cam gear off of my cam shaft

I hope that's not the problem... it was p1131 and 2 others and then p1151 I believe don't remember.... said system to lean bank 1 then hooked it to another scanner and that said the mass air meter on 3 codes....
I was going to take the t/a off and buy a new crank sensor |

turns out the timing adjuster came loose and broke the crank position sensor... the car runs but idles high... so I'm going to mess with the t/a and the iac and see what happens... I also will be buying new coil packs, 24lb injectors, intake manifold, cai, and gears....

nice.... now there is a minor minor tapping noise in the engine... only at idle... i didn't hear this till i changed the spark plugs... i hope they aren't hitting anything... also wondering if the car is out of time will i hear something like this.... or could it be a sign of a bad injector?

It could be a bad injector, check them for ohms and flow
