Tork Tech Build Log

As many of you know I have been asking questions recently relating to the tork tech eaton swap for my 02 gt.
Despite much flaming and links to centri blowers I am still pushing through to do the Eaton swap!

Flame all you want etc... I want my positive displacement and dont want to pay the pretty penny for a KB Intercooled setup.

With that said, I will tell you what is needed for the swap.

Fuel:
Bigger fuel pump
Bigger injectors
Injector Adapters

I went with a Ford GT supercar fuel pump and slightly used cobra injectors.

Injector Adapters $40
Fuel Pump $80
Injectors $150

Air:
Eaton M112
Elbow
Throttle Body
MAF
Air Intake
IAC Valve

All of the air parts I got are slightly used and they are all stock from the 2003-2004 Cobra.

Eaton M112 $200
Elbow/Throttle Body $75
Air Intake/MAF $80
IAC Valve $30

Tork Tech Parts
Tork Tech Intercooled Kit $2000

IC Parts
Heat Exchanger estimated at $75 used
Intercooler Pump unknown price
Intercooler Tank unknown price

My Goal (without dyno costs or hood solution costs) : Build < $3000

So far I have spent $655 and I still need the following:

Heat Exchanger.
Intercooler Pump.
Intercooler Tank.
Tork Tech Intercooled Kit

I hope I have not forget any parts, other than miscellaneous little things.
All parts that I have bought used have less than 30,000 miles on them.

I will have pics up in a few days of what I got so far! And if I get one link to a centri blower then I might go

J/k Good luck with the build. Thinking about doing the same thing if I can't talk myself into buying a new GT.

I would wait for the 50th anniversary, it may seem far away, but time flies.

I don't know what the difference is or if there are any, but there is a S197 Salleen h/e on Ebay for 150. I am sure you can find one from a Termi for around the same price used.

Good luck man. Curious to see your $$ at end. I am going to be doing the GT super car pump too. I am not sure what it entails so curious on your fuel set up. How much RWHP do you think you will get?

well eatons are good up to about 450-500 unported I think. but with stock longblock probably gonna shoot for 400rwhp.

For the gt pump I read you just need a gates sumbersable hose (pprv delete)

i wish i could afford tork tech. it seems pretty outrageous to me that an intake manifold is 1700 dollars. i mean come on.

There is more to it than just the intake manifold, however it is definitely the most expensive part... It comes with:

# Aluminum lower intake manifold
# High capacity intercooler
# Front engine cross brace assembly that provides a independent 8-rib supercharger drive assembly with all belt tensioners and idlers.
# 7" lower piggy back style crank pulley that attaches to the factory pulley dampener to complete the separate 8-rib drive belt assembly.

I think a unported eaton could beat out a stock 2v longblock. However, I wont be the one to find out haha

As for the pulley I am not sure. Once I order tork techs kit I am gonna ask them what they recommend for 400 to the wheels. I am guessing it will probably be between 2.8-2.93.

I don't think the 1700 dollar one comes with the intercooler. The one you are getting for 2000 does. Still, its a new product that had a lot of work to get it right. Of course its going to be expensive for a while since they have to pay for all the research and time put into making it. I am sure they aren't selling like hotcakes for the price to be low yet. I'd rather pay that much for a intake that I can mount a 2-300 dollar supercharger on than pay 700 for a Bullitt intake to gain 5 hp.

Thats what im talkin about!

Yeah I am getting the 2000 dollar one. I am positive you could build a NON-IC Termi setup for less than 2400.

OK, I'm gonna be that guy who resurrects an old thread.

I've been working this install on my 01 GT since Feb, and I did the initial start up yesterday. So far I am still getting the tune worked out so no driving impressions yet, but here is a summary of what I found on the install.

The major kit components install easily, but the little odds and ends after those are on are a PITA. Also, I had trouble with the IC fittings that run into the manifold. They did not extend far enough into the heat exchanger under the blower, so I had to work them with a bench grinder to make them work.

You need many more 03-04 Cobra parts than just the IAC. I don't currently live in an emissions state but that might not always be the case so I opted to install the EGR system while I had it apart. You need a Cobra EGR valve where the fitting faces the drivers side, and the Cobra EGR to manifold tube...that actually lines up perfectly.

Factory 03-04 Cobra intake ducting DOES NOT FIT! The oil fill on the valve cover is in the way. I went with a Steeda 03-04 Cobra intake and an Airaid U-Build It. It ended up the 60 degree angle and the sections of straight right off it fit perfectly.

The port where Cobra's have the IAT2/MAP sensor. You could get the sensor to plug the hole, but I made a small plate out of one of the old brackets. I then drilled and tapped it for a 1/8" NPT brass T-fitting. One T goes under the plate, one faces the firewall and I ran the boost gauge to it, and the third faces up so I put a 1/4 hose barb in it and have that hooked to the relief actuator. I also got a 1/8 plug so I can bypass the actuator for the additional boost at the track.

You need 03-04 Cobra throttle and cruise cables.

An 03-04 Cobra hood works if you're like me and not into the Cobra R look.

Oh, one last note, the SC belt is a B**CH! Get a 1415mm belt, and install it from under the car. Under the car you get a better grip on the breaker bar to relieve the tensioner, then work it over the crank pulley.

I'm very interested in your notes from the install, and if you have any tips for the fine tuning.

sounds like you got things going pretty good. only think i would do diff is where you tapped in the map senser you should have threaded it and put a iat senser there so you can get your tuner to yank timing if things get to hot. also i would invest in a ice box style water tank. i tried to keep using the stock ic tank it the water was heat soaking when i was at the track. as for the boost accuator, just run a boost/vac line to the top port and leave the bottom port open, i also would not worry about capping off the bypass at the track it does not bleed off boost unless your using the boost purge valve which you should not be running since you do not have the electrical and pcm controls to run one.
