Rear wheel wobble. HELP!!!!!

Today I was informed by a passerby that my driver side rear wheel was wobbling. I went to the nearest tire place and had them tighten the lugs(which were loose) but the damn wheel is still wobbling. I dont know what else it could be.The tire is fine. Anybody had this issue before?

bearings?

bent axle could do the same but not sure how likely that would be.

if you were running around with really loose lug nuts i would think it'd be pretty easy to bend an axle. especially if you did some really spirited driving or hit some large pot holes.

Jesus lord I hope its not a bent axle! I dont drive the car hard at all and I crawl over the slightest bumps. Now im nervous about driving. All I can think about is my wheel flying off and me spinning out of control into a firey green ball of death. And my huge 315 wheel/tire pin balling off of some poor dudes ride. OK I should calm down.....im cool.

If its a bent axle all you have to do is pop off the rear end cover, take off the wheel, take out the ABS sensor, pull the C-clip out take out and slide the other in and do all the previous in reverse. When I broke an axle I called autozone and they had the full axle replacement kit for 120 bucks for one axle. I just went ahead and upgraded to 31 splines which I would recommend if you drag it.

Oh yea and take off the brake.

Its a very easy process to replace just the axle though.

UPDATE: I got it fixed this morning. 3 of my 5 studs/lugs were trashed to hell. Took it to a reputable shop and the guy only charged me for 2 new studs since Discount Tire broke one of mine in the process. No wobble, no wallow(that word makes me giggle for some reason), no bent axle, no messed up wheel bearing. Thanks for the help peoples. Rock on!

good deal, usually when you run loose lug nuts the bolt holes on the wheels will wallow or "egg". kind of an oval shape alowing the wheel to shift slightly even when the lugs are tightened.

Regardless, thats great news!

torque on wheels

How much torque should i apply when installing my wheels? I have a torque wrench, and have it set on 90 now. Too much? Too little? What is recommended?
