4.30 Gear to much gear for street use/daily driver?
Was thinking of swaping to 4.10's from 3.73's to get some more acceleration out of my car well I was looking online for gears and I ran accross a 4.30 FRPP gear on ebay and thought about bidding on it but wasnt sure if it was a good daily driver gear. I sometimes travel on highway but mostly just in town, hell I live 10 mins from work was just curious if this is too much gear. I basically just wanted another opinion. I dont plan on supercharging anytime soon but do plan on getting heads and cams done within the next two months.

yeah, but you don't just go to work and home in your car do ya? If you do then 4.30's can be for you but if you want to see the interstate 4.10's would be the best for ya. I have 4.10's and it's like 2800 rpms at like 80... couldn't imagine 4.30's

yeah thats kinda why I was asking dont want it to be 4,000rpm at 80mph I rarely go on highway because everything I need is right here in town and when we do leave town we take my wifes car due to baby and carseat.

I'd say 4.30's if you were running a 4v because they can rev higher, but 4.10's will be fine on your car. There's really not that much difference between the 2 any how. But like drgnracin said, if it's a track only car go with the 4.30's.

on highway you might see like a 3 mpg loss... not exactly sure... it wont hurt to bad if you can pay for gas no problem.. because gas is the only thing you really have to worry about.. but jumping from 373 to 4 10 you wont see a huge difference.. not like going from stock to 373.. so 4 30's is good if you dont care to buy gas more often lol... I dont know if this helps

Hey personally if you already have 3.73s dont spend more money for 4.10s. The reason being is that you will feel probably a really small difference and the cost of it would not be worth it.
