OK I tried searching the threads but never found the answer i was looking for. What is a PI motor and non-PI motor?

at least you tried searching...

they are the same motor except for the heads, intake, and cams.

a 96-98 didn't have a pi motor
the 99-04 ones did.

the swap is pretty easy to do and it's worth about 40 HP

the PI... it has a larger intake, the heads flow better, and the cams are a tad more aggressive.

a stock pi motor makes 260 crank hp

the non pi makes around 225 i think.

i would do the pi swap before you get the nitrous. i would just feel better knowing that i've got some good new heads to handle that n2o. but the gears are a must-have.

PI is Ported Intake. The most beneficial piece of equipment that came with the PI setup is the intake system, they alone are worth about 25hp. I am not sure if it came with a different cam or not though. I think that it just was an upgraded cam for that year. Not actually part of the PI upgrade.

PI does not stand for Ported Intake.

It refers to the whole top end of the motor that Ford upgraded for 99-04 models. And yes it is heads cams and intake, not just intake. Like stated before, its better flowing heads, better cams and also a better intake. Its "Performance Improved" parts. Many parts, but not just intake.
