you are thinking boost controller and that is for turbo cars. Dude you don't even own a mustang yet, what you need to do is go to how things work.com and search a bunch of things, that and just read things on here, every question you have asked have been asked before trust me. I am glad you are taking an interest in all these things but people who actually own a mustang on here asking questions are getting pushed to the second page and so on cause you are asking 15 questions every 5 hours.

Sounds like you are thinking of the "Boost Gauge". It basically measures the intake manifold air pressure as it enters the cylinders. Since superchargers compress (boost) the intake air, the manifold pressure goes up. The boost gauge shows how much the increase is. Too much boost and the engine will dissassemble itself for you. Funny thing is, the boost on S/C'ers is usually set by the pulley installed. Because of the pulley, the boost will never get above whatever level your installer decides, making the gauge nothing more than a nicety, or an indicator of too little boost (meaning there is a problem)

They are more important with a turbo, since there are several ways the inexperienced driver can adjust the boost himself. Then again, the inex. driver messing with boost levels needs more than a gauge to help him out.

They are not normally associated with nitrous. Nitrous has it's own gauges.

You can check it out here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boost_gauge
