typhoon intake manifold 2000 mustang gt

do the professional products typhoon intake manifold hurt my low end power? or is the stock plastic one better because my car feels sluggish off the line with the typhoon intake currently installed (bought it with it on the car, the owner said it is probably holding me back alittle because its powerband is 2500 to 7000.

I have a 2000 mustang gt automatic full bolt on's. with no stall converter (I have stock torque converter), cams, or long tube headers.

would going back to the stock intake make that much of a difference?

typhoon flows horribly and is made out of cast aluminum with will collect heat. The stock intake flows very well and is very good for both low end and high end. They only restrictions with the stocker is when you get upwards near 500hp. get a stock one and get rid of the slowphoon

All intakes are junk for our car. And are all heavier and flow crappy. Our intakes flow pretty good and their are some guys on here running stock PI intakes with f/i and they are making great numbers. I say if you REALLY want a new intake... Go find one off of a bullitt.

i have the typhoon on my car and its not that bad. I had mine ported, on the dyno i didnt lose anything on the low end. The only reason you should switch form the stocker is nitrous, high rev cams, or big boost. I have nitrous and plan on high rev cams so it works for me.

i agree for the most part on what your saying. the thing that sucks is even the stock intake will break over time so it is a liability as well. on a stock motor the oem ford intake with aluminum crossover is the best. the whole "its heavy" crap really should not be the reason not to buy a intake. if your set up will perform better with an aftermarket intake than the extra couple of pounds will be worth it. hell my whole s/c set up easily added about 70 extra pounds to my car but the gains were worth it. but for now i would save the money and run an oem one.

that metal shit doesnt stop nitrous back fires.. you can blow a metal 1 just like you can a stock plastic intake.. so..unless you a reving to 7k on top of 175 shot or something its still a waste... i was running 150shot and spinning it to 6500rpms just fine..stock motor

a bunch of shit lol..

True, but a back fire in an aluminum is less likely to crack or break. Its more about peace of mind for me. Besides i got a great deal on it.

so if i were to get an elder brock would my car require a dyno tune? i know to at least get the most out of it

really, care to elaborate?

Yes people make good numbers on a blower motor, Id hope so, 10psi and if you arent high 3's or low 4's you should kick yourself in the face.

The edlebrock/trickflow/RR/Fox Lake/Sullivan/Logan, all serve for a purpose.

96% of the cars in this section will never go past a stock motor with bolt ons.

Take a care with even stock compression, ported heads/decent cams, all the bolt ons, and swap between a stock and even the edlebrock intake, watch the curve change. Youll give up some power on the lower side, but from mid curve to the top of the curve, you will have nice gains. The intakes wouldnt have been made if they werent working/doing something right, too many dollars wasted in R&D to produce an intake that just fails. Well Prof. Prod. just copy cats, so they dont have to have R&D

I like my P51 just wish it was a 1/4 inch shorter so it didn'n rub on my hood. I am putting way too much money into my engine build to buy the hood I want.
