nitrous stuff

hey all, this is kind of a newbie ? i know, and i've been doing some research, but i'm still a little confused about the whole nitrous thing. i understand that a wet kit is the best way to go, but it's seems like it's a little complicated and a little more costly than I'm looking for. i was considering the zex #82023 kit (the one that invictus has), but I'm not sure..... say i run the 100 shot on that kit, do i need to take it to a dyno tuner, or will my diablosport predator take care of it? (if so, what would i need to adjust from the diablo tune).

since I'm quite new to this business, would yall suggest i just start with a dry nitrous kit such as the compucar bottle in a bag? how exactly does a dry kit work (i know how a wet system works, but whats different about the dry) and is it safer?? i understand that dry kits are much simpler to install... would i still need a tune if i went the dry route - even at 75 or 100 shot?

any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks.

i would recommend a wet kit cause you will have to add fuel in a dry kit thru a tune. The wet kit all you would have to do is pull 2 degrees of timing and put in a set of 1 stage colder plugs. Hell if your timing is messed with from stock anyways you don't even have to remove any. I am running a total of 22 degrees of timing with my 150 shot and i doubt that you are running that much timing. Just make sure whatever kit you get it comes with a window switch cause you don't want the nitrous to activate below 3k rpms or it will puddle up in the intake and boom.

Mine's the 82023. It is not terribly complicated even for the first timer and I'd be more than willing to help you with any install questions you may have.

White99Stang would know about nitrous timing better than me, but I'm going conservative and doing what the instructions recommend. The stock timing is fine with the 75 hp jets. If you use the 100 or 125 hp jets they recommend you retard the timing - I forget how much and don't have the instructions here. If you can change the timing with your Diablo Sport you are good to go.

I used a Zex window switch but I'm not sure how much you need it. If you can remember not to nail it at low rpms with the nitrous activated you're OK. It is cheap insurance though. Mine is programmed to spray 2800 to 5800 rpm. You WILL like it.

You can avoid the "puddling" by going with a direct port kit, but you still don't want to spray it below 2600 rpm's. I had actually purchased a dry kit last year, but I was afraid to spray my engine with it. Not that anything is wrong with the dry kit- I just worry about fuel starvation. Also, if you go above 100 HP worth of nitrous, you might want to think about getting a better fuel pump. My stock fuel pump was working at about 90% when I dynoed on motor alone- I don't think that it could have supplied enough fuel to keep up with too large of a shot.
I have to say that the NOS "Noszle" system is a well built kit. It has a window switch, tps wot switch, and fuel pressure safety kit in the kit. The only thing I'm adding will be a purge, two heaters, two bottle openers, and an extra 10 lb. bottle. Everything else I needed was included in the kit.

On the nitrous subject- Does anyone know about how much TQ gain to expect out of a 125 shot?

i have a 100 shot on mine without any timing adjustments. dyno tuning will get the most out of your mods but not neseccary, be sure to run a higher octane fuel doing it. and like was stated above get a window switch, that is a life saver for a motor. it has saved mine a few times already. my window switch is set to spray at 2100 and shut it off at 5900, no problems with puddling. as for the zex kit, wet or dry it is the easiest and safest kit to do.

I purge mine by closing the bottle, leaving it armed and floor it. Any nitrous in the line is gone in a second.
