Fastest Bolt On Mustang
I am wondering what the fastest 1/4 mile time is for a bolt on, full suspension, and built 8.8 with 4.10 gears 2v 4.6 is. No nitrous no power adders no head word etc. My friend and I might shoot for a record. I could find much on the subject with out seeing nitrous in the pictures but whatever times you guys come up with can you post the cars weight to?

F8L GT just told me just a little a bit ago a GT 2v ran an 11.98, but it had a swapped in Bullitt manifold and after market cams, so it wasn't a true stock long block. Not sure on the weight. Hope that gives you an idea.

Intake is a bolt on. Im looking for whats been stated above. Stock long block w/ full bolt ons, suspension, rear, and no laughing gas or boost.

With a good suspension/tire combo, a well driven manual 2v bolt-on GT at full weight is capable of high 12s. Pretty much everything after that has to be made up by weight reduction (since power isn't going up). If you look at the fastest N/A 2v mustangs out there, the one thing they all have is SERIOUS weight reduction.

Haha well its more of my friend then me. I have a ls1 but my friend said he wanted to try and get his into mid to low 12's with bolt ons ect..... I told him if he did it would probably be close to a record and he couldnt do it without dropping a pounds. Do you know what the current record is?

Bill said that the quickest he has ran w/o cames was 12.47@107. He gave me this link to look at that he put together. He said not all mods are listed such as intakes because they are not considered a major mod. He also said it was limited to ported heads, headswaps on non-pi cars, built engines, cams.

Interesting it seems like what'd you'd be looking at on stock weight then would be in the 12.8+ area.

I have run multiple 12.9 passes on my car with minor bolt-ons, a good tune, drag radials and a suspension setup for autocross. 12.91@104.9 and a 1.76 60ft time being the fastest, and the only weight reduction was taking the rear and passenger's seat out, and of course the spare tire. I wonder what it'll do on a suspension setup for drag racing and more aggressive tire? Hell, I don't even have headers on my car. Last edited by Bullitt5339; September 14th, 2010 at 02:48 PM. |

I always have disliked the term "bolt on".
First bolt on the new stroker crank, then bolt on the rods and the big bore pistons, then bolt on some bad ass heads and cams and top it off with a bolt on intake. Bolt on the headers, bolt on the turbos, then bolt on a nitrous kit. Bolt on a drag suspension and bolt on some slicks. "Stock NA longblock" is a more appropriate term. |

1. without the rear seat delete and passenger seat installed, you would be 13.0-13.1 if everything else remained the same. 2. mid 1.7xx 60fts are the best you're really gonna do with bolt-on power and close to stock weight, I don't care what tires/suspension you are running. 3. and depending on what mods you have, there is not much more room for power increases. With a bullitt intake manifold, a tune, and I'm guessing an aftermarket mid-pipe, you have little to nothing to gain from the other bolt-ons available (including headers while running stock heads and cams) Last edited by tbirdscwd; September 14th, 2010 at 05:26 PM. |
