Has anyone ever heard of this???


ok if you seen my other post then you seen what my car was doin if not check it out and let me know what you think....anyhow this is what i was asking have any of you guys heard of oil pressure going below 6psi causing the engine to not have compression? a mechanic at a ford dealer told me this but i didnt know if he was full of shit or not...please let me know

It would still have compression, but I know most gm cars have an oil pressure safety switch. If the pressure gets too low it turns off the fuel. I don't know if ford has the same thing though.

I dont know about that one... you should still have compression even with out oil pressure... but that is some low oil pressure, need to look into that.

Weird. Maybe the rings got damaged from no oil getting to them and caused a loss of compression. I have heard of putting a little oil down the plug hole between compression tests and if it rises with the oil, the rings are bad.

I would ask the mechanic if it's ok to try that before you do though.

Oil pressure is generated by a oil pressure regulating valve and your oil pump...compression is created when your pistons cycle inside the cylinders...the two have nothing to do with each other
