Getting Re-Tune This Afternoon

As some of you may know or have read about my build. I have a NOVI 1500, blow through, 2 core procharger i/c, svt pump with BAP, 38 LB inj ect, long tubes, o/r pipe.

I went to get it tuned two weeks ago after my build and only made barily 5 PSI on a RR 3.1 pulley. I only made 306/321 on a Dynojet Didn't even make enough psi to utilize my wastegate. bummer.

I know I was getting a leak in two places: 1 off my intake pipe b4 my TB where my IAC went in & 2 on my boost hose that went to my wastegagte.

I fixed those two leaks & installed a 2.75 pulley with a 107 1/8 belt. I can def notice a difference in pick up but I really haven't gotten on it but once. I noticed my wideband jumps to like 10 a/f which is pretty rich b/c it was hovering around 12. something when it was tuned before. I FN hope I boost at least 8 psi!

I want you all to Guess --

Where do you think my power will be at later today?

Reps to the two closest! haha

If you have any ideas on why else I wouldn't be boosting so much let me know, thanks!

Some pics:

why is your filter so damn big? and intercooler so small? that loooks like the k&n high boost filter cobras use lol...acutally im pretty damn sure it is.. and you only made 5 lbs with a 3.1 pulley? seems like you must have some restriction in that little bitty intercooler..could have been made worse by painting it...

unless your spinning the blower to make like 15lbs dont see where the wastegate is going to be neccesary if your not makeing enough boost for the springs in it to bleed off the extra...

Do you think the big filter hurts anything? I have it b/c it is what I had already. I figured why buy a filter if I had one you know.

The intercooler is a procharger 2 core and those are supposed to be good to 550 HP so I didn't think that was the issue. I put a real light coat of spray on it so I doub't that has any effect on flow. Do you really think that the procharger 2 core would be that restrictive to prevent over 10 PSI?

Nothing wrong with a big air filter. And nothing wrong with a smaller intercooler, at least he has something. Lots of people run around here without an IC.

The lack of boost was from the two leaks he described, not from a restriction in the intercooler. The only thing painting does is make the outside airflow through the fins less effective, making the intercooler a little less effective at cooling. It has no effect on how the boosted air goes through then intercooler.

Wastegates have a couple of advantages. You can put a 15 lb pulley on and set your wategate to 8 psi and you'll only make 8 psi on the top end, but you'll make it a lot sooner than if you just had an 8 psi pulley on. You get more power in lower RPMs doing it that way, and you get to peak power earlier in the RPM range

yeah i know what the wastegate does but if he doesnt make enough boost to peak where it supposed to bleed off the excess boost then its one more thing in the way..i didnt say anything was wwrong with the filter just that it was big as shit lol..and on a 3.1 pulley even intercooled he should have seen at least 10lbs even with the leaks unless they where just that damn bad...

11psi @ 376rwhp/372rwtq

Im lost on the boost because you said you had leaks that you fixed, and you went with a smaller pulley.

Shit man!!! That was a MONSTER! I was afraid of sucking water so I gut my intake pipe a bit and moved it up just enough haha. I just figure why buy a new one if that one works.

Right well the idea was to make enough boost to be able to bleed off what I don't need and then I went to the tuner with a 3.1 and had shit for boost so I hope this time it will yield at least 8-10 then I'll be happy. Then next spring I will work on trying to get more boost and utilizing the wastegate.

Dont be disapointed. Its a lot more power then ur GT without a blower... lol. If you do happen to get dissapointed, theres so many things to do to make it faster. Bigger intercooler, powerpipe, smaller pulley (again) I would say longtubes, but you have that. Youll make good power. Just depends on how much boost.
