Bad night for me

I installed my new BOV tonight, me an my dad went out for a spin. BOV sounds awesome.

So I was at a rest area, where I can take off and its wide open, goes up hill a bit but its nice to let it rip in all 4 gears.

So i hit it in 1st, shift to 2nd, felt the intercooler pipe blow off. Whatever go home an fix it no biggie.

Look in my rear view and see smoke pouring out, Im like what the fuck? Check my oil pressure, its fine.

I pull over shut the car off right away, smoke pouring from the hood. Im like fuck wtf happend now.

When my intercooler pipe blew off, it pushed my Oil Feed line into my harmonic balancer and has a slit in it. So had to wait like 2 hours for AAA to get there. Thankfully though, I killed the motor before it starved for oil, and its a cheap fix.

I can probally get something from Autozone or NAPA rather than buying it from Superchargers Online. This is probally the only time I hate Oil lines for the supercharger lol

Lucky man Thankfully it should be an easy fix. Worst case, save up for a Procharger or a V3 head unit so you can ditch the oil feed line

Shit happens. I had my piping blow off some much. After it happened in the fender well and I was on my back for 30mins alone trying to fit it, I went home and hose clamps/t-bolts the fuck out of it! Everwhere I could fit 2 clamps I did. No more blow off pips after that .

It could be worse. You could find out you have aids.

Geez man you're having all sorts of issues. Get some t-bolt clamps, so this doesn't happen again.

Yea I shut it down pretty quick. There was probally about 1-1.5 qts on the ground. Then on the motor and underneathe I probally lost 2qts, but that was after it had all dripped out and what not. Everything should be fine.

I just went out there, pulled the oil feed line, theres a nice 1/2" gash in it, cleaned under the car and the motor with brake parts cleaner to get the oil off.

Hoping I can pick up a high pressure line, could use copper or something, at Autozone or Napa, and rig something. The oil feed line at superchargers online is $24 + $12 for shipping. Gay.

Ill buy some T-Clamps and re-tighten everything, although that was the only pipe that didnt have RTV around it, so I just did that.

Damn that sucks but it's at least it squirted on something to make smoke so that you caught it before you lost all oil pressure. Funny things is that I actually have a hard line oil feed make out of copper in my garage. It came with the used s/c kit I bought but i never even thought about using it. Shit you can have it if you want since you're the only person I know of that needed one. lol

I bought my feed line from Summit. It was a little cheaper then Superchargersonline

Phillystyle coming through in the clutch, nice!

Anyway Shaun, it sucks to hear about this. At least the worst part of the whole ordeal was waiting for AAA, instead of like blowing your motor or something like that. It does suck when all this petty little shit happens all the time. $20 here, $40 there... starts to irritate a guy.

Were you usuing just regular worm clamps? Because those things suck balls. T-clamps are the way to go for FI builds. They cost a few bucks more but they are well worth it; no leaks, no blowoffs, etc.

Damn bro!!! I just almost had that happen after I put my new pulley on and belt. I have the line zip tied to my piping from the blower to the intercooler and it must have moved down it and I noticed only when the care would go over bumps or i would bounce the pipe it would rub a bit on the balancer and wheeew I caught it with jsut a little rubbed off it but it didn't bust through. I am going to get another line to keep on hand man.

Glad you didn't mess anything up!!!

Yea just a worm clamp fuckin thing. Im definatley buying some TClamps. I did put some Copper RTV on the pipe, so it most likley wont come off, but Im throwing T-Clamps on it to be safe.

It wasnt a big deal, at least it was just an oil line. My dad knew what it was before he even looked. And then I saw the gash in the oil feed line which made me feel a lot better. The worst part was calling my uncle for AAA again, first the clutch now this. Fuck. Lol.

I blew the discharge pipe off my Procharger more than once when it was worm clamped. Pissed me off, but it never caused any damage. RTV is a good idea though too, but is it a bitch to get the piping to come apart after you seal everything up? It's not "easy" to pull of regular piping after it's been clamped down for a while.

get a steel braided oil feed line. I had one on my vortech. got it from superchargersonline. And T bolt clamps are awesome, i would always blow off intercooler piping till i switched to those.

Good news, went to a parts store, they made me a new line with the brass fittings. 4" longer, and 250psi line for only $8. Thats $16 cheaper than superchargers online, plus $12 for shipping. And it took them literally 5 minutes to make it.

I could have got stainless steel, but Im goin to put some sort of metal tubing around the hose to protect it. Chances are this wont happen again, it was more of a freak accident to be honest. But car will be running tonight. Im more than positive I didnt do any harm to the motor/supercharger but that thought is still in the back of my mind.

Wish me luck
