Cutting stock springs?

I have this entire saturday free and its pretty nice, i want to work on my car. i was thinking of cutting my stock coils a little bit to lower my car. how hard / involved is that? think i could do it in like 2 - 3 hours? also do i need to re-compress the coils to get them back in? i heard its hard / dangerous to do and i dont have any special tools for compressing coils.

I removed mine without any spring compressor. There's not much tension on the springs if you remove the right parts. There's a writeup somewhere on here I used.

BTW , I'll sell you my stock vert springs when you get sick of riding on those cut stockers

i didn't use a compressor either...i know aftermarket springs cost some money, but is there a reason your going to cut yours? i don't know if i'd trust myself cutting my springs... i've never seen anyone do it...lol its just new to me, sorry man..
