Well are you getting a different car soon? If so I wouldn't go through all the hassle but if you aren't then go for it personally I'd keep the car put the transmission in and rebuild the engine and keep the car but if you plan on getting rid of it don't do it.

I did it

I just my 2004 Gt and I love it, there are a couple of place you can buy a complete swap kit that will include all the parts like out of a wrecked car.

You will need
Transmission
Clutch pedal
Clutch Cable
Clutch ( should put new one in)
Fly wheel ( make sure to get the right one for your car 6 or 8 bolt) I decided to purchase a new one rather then to machine the one in the kit
Drive shaft
Shifter ( I bought a short throw )
Computer and Harness
and a good tune

May have missed a couple of things but I think I hit all

Problems I ran into: were with the computer, I orignally left the stock auto computer in the car just changed the harness and was going to remover the OBD codes but later found that with the anti theft and all the other what ifs I decided to put the 5 speed computer in the car and get reflashed

Midwestmustangs sold the complete kit for $ 1400.00 plus shipping, I was quoted 600-650 for the labor, I decided to do it my self the only part that was a PITA was the pedals I ended up removing the steering colum and then is was all cake from there

was it worth it? hell yeah ! would I do it again? yeap!

Fun factor it plus 100
The feel of power when you want it Plus 100 ( not saying autos can't be built to kick A$$ but I like shifting on my own )
