diablo question

so i picked up the tuner from la today.

plugged it in, well i got to the screen where i can pick the options.

Well all i saw was an 87 performance tune, 93 octane tune, modify stock tune, and i think a back up tune option

... i thought their was supposed to be a 91 ocatane tune??? should i just load the 93 octane tune if i run 91?

sry all i got was the box and tuners. I didnt get any directions

Run the 93 octane tune with 91. Listen for any signs of detonation, but I ran it on my car with 91 and never had an issue. I know a few guys that have done the same with no problems.

sometimes it is hard to hear knock/ping on mod motors. ford had to do away with the knock sensor due to so much engine noise. if it sounds like beans in a can get off the gas and go with the other tune. to be honest i have not heard anything of the sort on a mod motor. it is common on the early 5.0 push rod motors to hear ping. i would pay the 50 dollars and get a 91 octane tune to be safe

There really isn't a whole lot between the two tunes. Basically the 93 tune just has a couple extra degrees of timing added to it.

Detonation sounds like a ping or loud pop coming from the engine and in most cases will happen under hard acceleration. If your exhaust is really loud it can be a little hard to hear. So, try to listen with the windows up and when driving on a smooth road to minimize other noises from interfering

even if you dont have the cable you can pick one up at walmart for about 6-10 dollars. and yes there is a diff with the lower octane tunes. they have lower timing and you wont be as fast but for 50 dollars and a email tune you will fix that. its not worth running a tune your not sure about and wont be able to tell if your causing damage

why would you get a manifold? yes you need another tune for gears but you can tell the guy which gears you want to put in and they will send you a seperate tune for them for free

Directly from the manual for states such as California and Arizona where they sell 91 octane as premium retard the spark timing by 10% on both rpm ranges. 0-4k and 4k-7k

$150 for 3 tunes - you'll get a Performance, Street and Race tune. After that, you'll get free tune adjustments down the road on anything that you need up until heavily modified F/I applications.
