Wow... great. Just great... HELP PLEASE

So I was cutting off my old exhuast to put my new one on and i hit a brake line... I'm not familiar with brake lines at all so does that mean i have to replace the whole passenger side brake line? Or what do i have to replace. Like I said I'm 100% clueless on brake lines...

How much can i expect it to cost?

I'm guessing you cut the rear brake line? From experience the entire brake line must be replaced. What I ended up doing was finding one out of a junk car and paying a friend to install it, cost me $250.

Yup, replace the line that you cut with a new line. You'll have to bleed the brakes afterwards.

How hard are they to replace? And can it be done in a driveway with some jackstands?

Yes, just remove the old line and install the new one. It should sit right into the factory "trail"

Ok. Do they come prebent or do i have to bend them myself? If so how would i go about bending them without breaking it.

I called advanced and they said they sell straight tubing that you have to bend yourself which is what i think i'll do. But they also said i need to know what size the tubing is. Is there anyway i can find out or do any of you know?

If you're buying straight brake line tubing, you'll also need a good brake line bending tool as well as a good flare tool with the correct tips. Buy a few extra lengths of tubing, as you'll likely kink a few until you get the hang of it.

You think $250 is expensive? Generally you don't want brake lines to be spliced....you have to completely remove the old line and fasten in place the new line, then bleed the brakes.

From the other quotes I received $250 was a down right steal for not having to lift a finger....

FYI, I doubt the Autozone carries a long enough brake line, remember it has to span the length of the car + bends.

you can buy multiple lines from autozone they all come with connections on them so you can fasten them together. they also sell adapters as well so you wont have to flare anything.

as far as bending goes, they are easy to bend and i have easily bent lines by hand just fine. you just have to realize you must bend slowly and carefully, but it does take quite a bit to kink/break a new line so you should be ok to do it by hand with no prior experiance.

i would suggest getting a lot of tubing(more than you'll need), disconnect the line from the rear split point and the front master, but leave the old line on there and use that to get an idea of the bends you'll have to do on the line, and you can also fasten the new line to the old one.

Go to a junk yard and buy one from a 2000+ car.

I wouldn't go splicing the rear brake line, you need the OEM 1 piece line.

If you can get the tubing long enough all you need is a tubing bending tool and a flaring tool. You might be able to rent a flaring tool from Autozone, a tubing bending tool is fairly cheap for bending brake lines. Always use the proper tools for the job!

theres nothing wrong with splicing a line. as long as you use the right unions with flare.

Dont even think of those compression fittings

precisely! compression fittings are a huge no no. but there's nothing wrong with splicing lines the right way. take your car to a dealer i gaurantee you wont get one solid line all the way back.

if your gonna splice lines, please have someone there that knows what they are doing. unless you have expierence with this and the proper tools and know how to measure and bend the line so that your not gonna kink it, it would be easier, quicker and probably safer to just find one in a junkyard.
