you shrink your pulley down to much you will get belt slip. i would swap cranks to a iw 7.5 inch and an 8 rib for that kind of boost

a 5000? aren't the 3000 good to like 740rwhp on fi applications? what are you shooting for?

ba 3000 is a tonsil style maf which does not perform very well in a blow threw setup. they have decent range but not a very clear resolution. causes low speed fuel problems. also if you shrink the housing the range gets cut down by alot

so the 5000 uses the slot style?

you got a good setup but i would do more research. i have over 20 hrs on the dyno with the 2 lightning mafs, and the ba 2800 on my car. the 2800 had alot of range bad resolution plus i needed it for the lightning. the 90mm maf in blow threw was the worst of all with bad range and ok resolution, and the 80mm lightning maf did ok with decent range and decent resolution. best bang for the buck maf is the ba 5000 which is good in a 3" housing to about 600 rwhp. which is real close to my mark. but that is why i have a mafia. the resolution on a slot style maf gets better in a smaller housing even though range is lost. its hands down the best maf on the marked along side the hpx but that is made by pmas and i have had issues with their cosumer service in the past

i know who your talking about he can give you more info than i can but what i do know is the twin screws are not a very efficent blower and they carry alot of momentum which will require decent belt traction. in high boost aplications you will need an 8 rib setup and probably a billet flow pulley. or you can go with an over size crank with an 8 rib setup and eat less belts

i think it's the resolution you speak of is why when i first had procharger put on he didn't use lightning maf. he just added mafia to stock maf saying the 90mm maf made turbulance and weird reading at low flow. that what you mean by resolution? i'd rather just swap the little finger thing in the maf with one that handles more hp and still use stock housing, and use mafia if needed. but i'm not sure that set up is possible.

yes the turbulence is resolution. when you see the graph it looks choppy and that messes with fuel trims. if you want to stick with tonsil style maf you should go with pmas, just make sure they give you a calibration card for your tuner. most people will sell them used calibrated for lots of setups but i dont recommend buying it that way. for the money i would still go slot style hpx or ba 5000, your tuner will love you for it

what housing is the 5000? i saw the 3000 needs some adapter to connect to the intake piping, but i've never seen such an adapter for sale anywhere.

sorry to jack your thread, i tried to go back and answer your q's the best i could. your still a little wishy washy and to help things i will throw something at you, call tork tech and buy a tuner intercooled manifold kit for the m112 sc. then call kb up and throw a kb 2.8 on top. since it uses a piggy back pulley setup your set with 8 rib and can run a huge metco lower pulley on the bottom. that is your big hp setup right there.

VMP Tuning - Buy Ford SCT & GM Custom Handheld Flash Tuners Performance Economy Towing: VMP Blow-through 75MM MAF housing and SCT BA5000 MAF sensor

or you can buy a weld on flange and the sensor and install it directly to your pipe

ooh i like that. the sensor mounted in a pipe that matches the rest of the piping. should couple up nicely. not too expensive either. sweet.

you can run that or hpx both good units. they both use the same starter tune and are pretty much the same maf. the only reason i want to go with sct is if there is a problem with the calibration sct is way easier to get ahold of than pmas.

not sure how that 8" tube it mounts in will fit in my piping though. in any case, i don't need it just yet and will deal with that and make it work when i need to.

glad to help you out man. its a pain to do setup changes but in the end its the better way to go. i got tired of trying to mess with the tonsil style mafs. the only other change is the pig tial off your maf but they sell those for 35 dollars. its worth it, trust me. my tuner is a good guy, he showed me his car on the dyno the diff in resolution betweent the 2 mafs and it was night and day. most people take there cars in to get tuned and never get told any thing but numbers. i go in and get showed spread sheets of everything going on. thats how i pick my parts, fix problems
