Stock scoop question.

What does it take to remove the black guard in the front of the stock scoop? Is it bolted, screwed, or clipped into place?

Don't worry, I'm not removing mine, but... I'm trying to get one mailed out here for free.

My old man spends alot of time in salvage yards and can snag one if its clipped in and doesn't take anything more than a screw driver to pop it off.

Thanks,
Doc

Its a piece of cake... just pop the hood.. i think its like a 8mm or 6mm nut for the scoop bolts, once those are off the scoop will lift right off the hood, one more nut and the guard is off... should only take 20minutes max.

If you’re thinking about making the scoop functional, it won’t work. There is a thread about that subject somewhere on this site.. Just thought I'd save a little time

Mine is acutally functional too. But the previous owner was the one who did the work, he told me it does keep it cooler. I am not sure because I have the stock gauges, but my temp gauge always runs just a few degrees below midline.

The previous owner cut a hole in the hood just under the cowl and removed the insert. Only problem is the big FN' open space in the front of the cowl, kind of an eyesore, but not too bad. I am trying to find a new one and put it back on, but first i am going to drill holes in all of the little circles in the insert, to keep it functional. Hard to find just the insert, every place wants to sell the cowl which comes with the insert... BASTARDS!!!! I tried the salvage yards here but nobody has one at their yard.....DAMNIT. So someday i'll have to fork up the $150.00 for the cowl and insert!!!!

As far as te water, yes rain or washing it I do get water on my engine. Here's a pic.

Ya but I do live a mile high from sea level and that is a 1sec slower so if I was at sea level that would be 13.9 to 13.5 or so

Got lucky it came that way, previous owner put them on, $1800.00 just for fronts. I don't think I would have spent that on brakes unless i had no other mods to do. But I think I'll keep them....

And thanks for the ebay check.
