8.8 Rear Axle

I'm putting in a 8.8 rear axle(yes i have a V6...no one really answered on how to rebuild it) but im going ot rebuild it while its out and put 4.10's in it. I was wondering what all is involved in rebuilding the axle??

does anyone know of a good website that shows you how to rebuild it and what to replace and what to do??

i would recommend taking it to a shop for the gear install, which will be most of the rebuild unless you wanna rebuild the carrier too.

naw the t-loc is not hard! YOu just take off one of the spring thingys and then take out the spider gears and then replace the clutch disks! Its not to hard! To rebuild it you should do some upgraded axles and t-loc and new bearings and seals!

Okay so the 99-04 cobra rear ends are IRS so that will not work!! But Upgraded axles and t-loc is more splines! The more the splines the more power it can handle! Personally unless that 4.2 has forced induction I dont think the 7.5 will have a problem, because the 4.2 is still a 6er correct?

Okay! here are some axle kits, but I am sure you could find better that took maybe 20 seconds to find!http://www.50resto.com/products.aspx...ory=MREARAXL16
And when you go with different spline axles stock are 28 you have to get a T-Loc that has the same spline as the new axles! If you have anymore questions just ask!

I bet you might beable to do it cheaper! And anyways, if you are only going to have maybe 300-350 rwhp with out sometype of forced induction so the stock 28s will be fine for that! Let me know how much HP you plan on and how you will get it and then we can tell you what will be a better option!

Yeah I think that staying with the 28 spline will be fine if you dont run any FI or high shot of nitrous!
