My New/Old Mach 1
Hey ya’all I’m new to the Forum and new to American Muscle as well. This is my 7th car I have had everything under the sun Mazda, Nissan, Honda, and my most recent 2009 Volkswagen GTI, which I traded for my Red 04’ Mustang Mach 1.
On to the new ride I picked it up for 14,500 (dealer was asking 17 : ) ) Its got 25,000 miles only- never seen snow. Its quite a beauty. I looked at 3 Mach’s and this was by far the best. Anyway I hope I learn a lot on hear, I have to tell you I know Volkswagen's well as far as mods but I don’t even know where to start with this, except for the SLP exhaust I put on lol This will be my dd for one winter just ordered some Continental Extreme Contact DWS’s so those should help other then that I will wash her every week including undercarriage. Cant get the pic to upload... right size and everything so i will add them later |

Congrats on the purchase, your going to love it!! As far as modding, go with 4.10 gears, tuner, exhaust, CAI, intake spacer(actually useful on the mach 1), and as much suspension work as you can do. Have fun and welcome to MM

He should be good on the suspension for a long while minus him needing full lengh sub frame conectors(flsfcs) but agree on everything else. I myself didnt go with 4.10's but 3.90's because i make drives to chicago often but always hearing great things about those gears

And if it's a 5 speed, make sure you get a short throw shifter...they make a major difference

DD for one winter?
That might not be a good idea. The Mustangs suck at traction especially in snow or rain. Good luck with that, oh and

Awesome news about the car bro! I wouldn't drive it in the snow man. Winter Beater FTW!

i didnt make it a week through Cleveland winter last year. Honestly if you can look at a real winter tire, tire chains, and sand bags. go for it

Honestly isn't even worth buying tires for the winter...just take the money that you were going to spend on tires and buy a beater, it will be worth it trust me. Drove my v6 for 2 weeks in the winter and it sucked, plus its a mach 1 and should never see snow!!!

Absolutely, 3.73's are a waste on mach's, i believe they come with 3.55's stock. Most go 4.10's or 4.30's.

So driving these in the winter is a bitch? Being 17 and paying for my car, insurance, gas, and anything that goes wrong i don't really have alot of money to get a beater for winter..

yea well I bought these Continental ExtremeContact DWS's- they are the highest rated all season tire in the snow, i figure those hold up esp because i mainly drive the highway. I will just pray those tires just cost me 580 shipped.

suck in the snow. Tires, chains and sand bags help a lot, but still suck
