belt broke the second i turned heater on??

How would those to things relate to each other. Coincidental? I made it to the house with it belching water out the reservoir. Was only about 1 mile from the house. The second i turned the heater on the belt through a rib and is now wadded around everything.

Damn bro that sucks. All I can figure is when you turned on the heater the compressor engaged and well I don't know what else to say.

Sheet happens

It was gonna break anyway, so if was not the heater... would have been the radio or turn signal, or windshield wipers...

If i'm not mistaking he just installed that belt a couple weeks ago. I believe thats one reason why he's so confused.

+1 even though its heat and not AC, the car uses the AC to get the water out of the air so it doesnt fog up your car.

yeah it was the second that the i flipped it over to defrost.... I noticed the other day that my AC wasnt working. I took the pulley off of a 5.4 a/c compressor and it is larger than the 4.6 pulley. I had my doubts about it working. But the a/c never worked ever since this larger 8 rib pulley but it never broke it. I guess ill be getting the correct a/c pulley 8 rib 4.6 size. I got the part number for it but figured that the 5.4 a/c pulley would work. Well i guess it didnt. Remember though, it through the belt after ripping off one rib. It didnt break all the way. It just ripped a rip off and all over the place.

Thats wierd man. My belt keeps jumping a rib too. I dont get it. I bought a new tensioner and a 1/2" longer belt.

Oh Baker I took that WS6 out for a test drive today. Its nice, I love it. Its crazy going from a mechanical clutch to hydraulic. But the WS6 rips, I think all it had was a catback. The driver side headlight was locking up sometimes, which I guess is a common thing. But it was definatley a car id love to have.

Have to wait a couple more months, guy said hed give me $9k to $10k without the supercharger for trade in. So I need to sell that bitch asap!

Sorry for the thread jack

badass dude! get that B!

Yeah... first thing ima do is check all my pulleys and get that "correct" a/c pulley. Then ill go from there. I know the supercharger is aligned and wasnt the issue cause i have put 40 miles or so on the car with not a single issue. Then the second i turn the heater on it happened. belt is still on the supercharger pulley. Guess it is without a doubt the a/c.

If felt so shitty driving home with no belt. Thing ran like pure HELL!

Yea definatley the AC pulley man. Thats the only thing that was differant so it has to be.

At least you were able to get it home. I was like 25 miles from my house, the belt snapped. I was going to try an drive it home because it was cold, so I could get a good amount of time without the temps rising. But I had no brakes or powersteering so I was like fuck that shit. Tow cost me $120...FML

DUDE

Driving your ride without the belt is a bad idea, as you have now found out. Obviously, yours was a pully issue, but why I always purchase a brand new serp belt when I get a new car. I put the old one in the trunk for such an occasion as the belt breaking on the side of the road.

The belt was still routed with just a rib off. I didnt have a 3/8 ratchet with me so i wouldnt be able to get it on. I used to keep an extra belt in the trunk win i was 6 rib but took it out. I wasnt far from the house.

baker, my ac never worked correctly after i put the 8 rib ac pulley on mine either... when the ac was on it would spin then stop then spin then stop. wouldnt ever come on and stay on. I guess that makes sense as to the problem now. glad i saw this thread... oh yeah, i dunno why but i havent had any problems with my belt yet... knock on wood.. and it is seeing 18psi and 6500rpm
