A arm/ball joint question

dumb question, what is this rubber cover over the ball joint on my new A arms? Is it a dust cover for shipping purposes, or am i leaving it on and installing the spindle over it?

You talking about the rubber below the nut? The one the threaded rod goes into?

If so, that's part of the ball joint. Looks like you just need to unscrew the castle nut, put in place, and tighten down.

That rubber is there to help to hold the grease around the joint when it is pumped into place.

IOW.... leave it there like my boy Sonic said
