Heads vs Cams on PD blower

Ok, so I will be coming home fron the Desert with a little spending money. I'm trying to finish up my performance mods, so my question is, I want to make the most out of my MMR 600 with the 2.1 KB SC. I would like to save as much money as possible, are Heads really worth the price tag or should I just go for cams, and what kind?? I plan on just going up to 10-11psi, KB said if I go higer than 11, I will need to run some type of Octane booster, I don't want that. Also if I choose to go with say 10 psi would I need to up the Octane when adding the cams or heads or both??

MUCH LOVE TBIRD!

Really man, if i were you, id do some research on the MPH KB cams. Those would be one of my first choice of cams.

just do cams IMO.We will make plenty of power like that. But the rest of your money into your suspension.

Yes, those were the Cams I was eyeing for a long time, but they don't have a web site anymore, And I know they moved up to the Chicgo area, anyone know if they are still doing those cams, and how to get in contact with them??

Thanks for the help, also about the octane issue, with 10psi and a set of cams, would I need to run higher than 93??

I agree with baker that cams would be more of an improvement on your setup than adding a set of heads.

Call Tim at Mr. Norm's Garage for a set of his custom KB cams

if your tuner is any good you can run more boost with out an issue, he has to be sure to check the plugs after each pull to make sure the timing mark does not pass the 90 degree on the strap. i dont know where he gets off saying 10# is the limit, he can always back off the timing a hair to keep it safe. im not sure what cr you plan on running but im running 18# pump gas+meth on 9.5 cr just fine. off the meth the timing holds fine at 15 degrees

Well I guess I will finish my performance with a good set of Cams, going to 10 psi, adding my 90mm MAF, 75 mm TB, JLT intake, Stainless steel springs. Anything else I might need as far as the cams go??

springs....

EDIT... you might can get away with them. You will have to talk to Tim on that. Reason i say might not have to is because the KB isnt a "higher rpm blower" like a centri so you shouldnt have to rev it out as much. Hell i dunno/

as far as building a good set of heads rated to hold down boost i would go with a good set of high load springs just in case you plan on turning up the boost. also replace the valve seals, BRONZE GUIDES! timeserts, titanium locks and retainers.

I agree that Tim would be the guy to talk to about whether or not his KB grind requires aftermarket springs.
