Hood Pins

Just wondering if anyone can give me any feedback on these hoodpins. I want a set of the regular hood pins with the clips but I already know someone would keep pulling them out and piss me off so i'm just gonna eliminate that problem by getting locking ones. Do these look like a decent set? Thanks!

the problems i see with these are with the locks facing up like that, they will not only collect dirt and function poorly, but will collect water and will eventually rust and "freeze" up. another thing is that installation will be more tedious, your pin height will have to be dead on. unless you know for certain someone will mess with them, i don't think they will get jacked with, mine never do. put some lanyards on the pins and just deal with the very rare putting the pin back in. it's just jealous LS guys

Thanks for the reply. Im not really worried about strangers bothering, its mainly the rare times I drive the car too work. We have a bunch of immature adults around that I can already see having problems with them pulling the pins out. I read a few posts talking bad about the locking pins so I went ahead and just bought the regular ones.

Justa is straight up correct on this one

Years and YEARS ago, I had made my own alarm system on my Vega and had MAJOR issues with water in the lock (mounted on the fender) I had to put WD-40 in there constantly to get rid of the rust and for it to function.

As for which hood pins to buy... ? I would NOT go anything but FRPP They are all SS and wont rust. I have had them on my ride for several years now and holding up great:

I decided to install some nylon washers between the pins and hood plate to avoid scratches and works wonderfully

Jazzer

PS. Have more pics for installation location, so PM if needed

jazzer, i have the same style of pins as you do, but I didnt get the FRPP ones. do your pins slide to one side of the pin? in the pic you posted the pin is centered... is that the scuff plate holding it? or do you just center it by hand all the freaking time...

I have the pins low enough that the upward pressure from the hood holds them tight. It helps that I have a cheap hood that is bent up on the sides and the pins hold it down This is actually the reason I ended up getting pins in the FIRST place

The nylon washers add a bit of friction and keep them from scratching, so all is good.

Thanks for the info Jazzer. I read a post a while back where you posted those pics showing where to install the pins.

Excellent

Please "save-as" these images if you think you may want them, as I need to remove them from my Photobucket account to thin it out a bit.

I will delete them by tomorrow morning

I have the hood locks and just be warned they are a motherF'r to install and to get lined up, other then that they look good with dirt and rust not being an issue as my car get parked in the garage, I dont know how they would far being out doors all the time but my guess is they would not last, if I had to do it again I'd get the pins !

I think you will be much happier with a traditional set of hood pins. The locking ones tend to be a but pain sometimes.
