want to do a motor swap or new long block

i have an 01 auto gt with 110,000 miles lately i have been looking at dropping a 5.0 crate engine or buying a short block or long block.

all i have done to my car is full exhaust and cai. i want to get about 325 naturally aspirated but do now want to but the necessary parts cams heads intake throttle body and then some thing goes wrong with the engine.

i would like to have the assurance that my engine will last another 100,000 miles under normal driving circumstances. read no track time.

strictly street. so what would be my best option. new crate engine or forge internals with new block?

yeah vt engines has what i am looking for. but first things first. i am getting rid of my auto and swapping it for a t3650. i already have the tranny and posted this before but can someone point me in the right direction in getting all the necessary parts to complete the swap.

jerry at midwest mustang is selling a so called kit for 725. he won't tell me exactly whats in it but i think its a good deal. because if you figure standard computer shifter clutch and whatever else you may need it adds up.

I was thinking about changing my 3650 out for the t56. I have found kits for about 3k that have everything you need including a shortend drive shaft. I wanted to go this route for the more agressive gear ratio but with the same tall gear in 6th that the 3650 offers in 5th.

t3650 Gear Ratios 1st 3.38 2nd 2.00 3rd 1.32 4th 1.00 5th 0.67
T56 Gear Ratios 1st 2.97 2nd 2.07 3rd 1.43 4th 1.00 5th 0.80 6th 0.62

The viper kit (t56) for the 4.6 from D&D performance is rated at 550 lb ft and has a 6th gear ratio of 0.50 vs the 0.62 for the fords. I think that might help with highway speeds while using 4.10 or 3.73 gears.

If your going to do a swap it might be worth it for you to go for the t56 over the 3650.

Good luck with the swap though for whatever tranny you decide to go with.
