This is a long shot but maybe there is a problem with the neutral safety switch or a short some where in the area, when you push the clutch maybe a wire getting pinched or something nice ride by the way...

If youve got two nearly identical cars with the same clutch problem youre to blame...Shifting these cars improperly (which is easy to get into the habit of doing especially if you drive it daily) will quickly start to make your clutch feel tougher and shakier, the car may idle fine at a stop and then suddenly dip nearly to a stall for just a second and then come back. After enough abuse the clutch pedal when depressed will not separate the clutch disc from the pressure plate quickly enough and the car will almost stall. In other words, if the assembly isnt separating quickly, youre still taking the transmission out of neutral gear when u step on the pedal. Id get the clutch replaced in both cars and maybe try to shift a little smoother. This is not a lecture Im just saying that thats exactly what it sounds like, what I like to think of is let the engine drive YOU, keep the window rolled down when u drive and listen to the engine to know when and how to shift, listen for the gear to wind out and then push the pedal smoothly to the floor, pushing the shifter into gear but not jamming it into gear. If you try to shift and feel a catching in the stick, the gear is not completely ready to be shifted into yet...take it slow.

actually I think it has something to do with the mass air meter, it is starting to throw a card on the 04.

HAHAHAHA, brian you need to learn how to shift. And so Does Anna I guess. No see, We swapped the mass air meter from the 00 to the 04 when we swapped air intakes on the 00. Now the 04 is throwing a code and I believe it's from having the 00's mass air meter on it. But your right, maybe it's cause we dont know how to drive a 5 speed.
