update on the 5.3

its been a while since i posted on here, i think last time was when i smoked the spec 2+ in my car, i decided not to fix it due to the fact that i was leaving for afghanistan, anyways, i will be home in 10 days,,,,,and today i bought a low mileage 2004 hard top gt which the wife is picking up for me today, and i am swapping the 5.3, built tranny, and rear end into the new hard top, and putting the stock drivetrain into my old vert and selling it, and finally making it to the dyno.

yep, big bore stroker, 18cc pistons, tfs 38cc heads, 11.7 compression, tfs cam, accufab tb and plenum, kooks lt's and x pipe, bassani cat back, mezier electric water pump, mmr billit cam spacers, jlt intake, built 3650 ( about to be replaced with a built t56, hopefully the t56 will be done by the time i am ready to do the swap in a few weeks), ummm, built rear end, and i think thats about it, im working on 4 hours of sleep in the past 2 days and everythings kinda cloudy right now, but you get the idea, i got to drive it for a few weeks before i spun the clutch, and it is very powerful, very responsive, and that was with a mild tune with no timing in it yet, haze the tires over from a 45 mph roll all the way through third just by cracking the gas pedal, cant frikkin wait to put it all in my new hard top!!!!!!!

Keep us updated, please. I just bought the big bore block as the base for mine, and gathering parts for the rest of it, which may take a while at the rate I'm going.

will do as much as possible, the only thing that sucks is I have very little time home each year, i work in the middle east as a defense contractor, i was planning on having completly done this past summer, but the build took a little longer than expected, then the issue with the clutch, and I was home for a few weeks last month, and I realized what a p.o.s. my car was, I have this ba dass motor in a clapped out chassis, so thats when i decided to buy a newer car and just do the swap, and hopefully my tranny will be done in time, i am an optimistic person, but with the holidays coming up and everyhting, its looking slim, i only have a clutch for the t56 with a 26 spline ( at least i think its 26, but like i said earlier, kinda running on empty here), and not for my 3650, and the clutch for the 3650 is roasted, no chance its gonna take any abuse on a dyno, if my trannys ready, i can have the swap done in one day, it wont take long at all if both our lifts are empty, but we will see.

I'm a defense contractor as well, so I can understand that.

Wow, keep post coming. My car is an 01 GT with exhaust and a 75 shot, I been planning a VERY similar build, even same compression. I got a sweet deal on a tko 500, so no t56 for me. I have my block, but no internals yet. I cant decide if I want to stroke or not. What kind of rpm are you seeing or planning to see with the new cams? I really want to see 7000-7500 rpm with tfs heads on a healthy dose of n2o. Im really really interested to see what kind of torque your setup makes because basically every other boss block build I find is 4v or FI.
