Why does my car take so dam long to warm up????

I've noticed since it started getting cold that my car takes FOREVER to warm up (the engine not the heat). I drove about 20 miles today (let the car idle for about 5 mins before i started dirivng) and when i go home it was only about 1/8 of the way up on the temp guage. Why would it be taking so long to warm up??? I have a feeling its the reason i'm getting such crap gas mileage...

the prior owner probably put in a 160 degree thurmostat thinking it would net him some hp. or the one that is in there is bad and it does not close (fail safe brand does this)

^^ not sure on price, install is easy, as long as you got a non-plastic crossover. If you got a plastic one, make sure not to crack it :-p

Try replacing your thermostat like i just did. Took me literally 15 mins if that, and I got the medium grade 195* replacement. With the gasket and the thermostat it was like 19 bucks

engine temp affects the way a car runs, being at optimal tempeture will help the motor be at a optimal power zone. temp=timing

in the beginning the timing cause cause your tune to be off, a car is tuned to a certain temperature, if your not a that temp then it could hurt the performance.
