2003 Mustang GT Convertible Speakers.

Hey Guys....I did a search in the Electrical section...found a thread that was relevant but noone seems to be responding. I"m planning on putting a stereo in my car this weekend and want to know what you guys are going with for speakers, what will fit, and what is stock.

I have a Mach system, not the 460. I have a new set of Boston Acustic 5x7's and a nice Canton 3-way Component set with a 6 1/2" sub, and a 4" round mid/tweet, all with crossover.

Can I use the speakers I have? or would I be better off buying a new component set for the front? Can I get a 6x8" component set with a tweeter?

What are my stock sizes on the convertible in the back?

Thanks guys, hope this isn't another repeat thread, I know there are tons...lol.

I hope this is what you're looking for.

Front speakers
Front Door : 5x7"
Far rear speakers
Rear Seat Side Panels : 6-1/2" factory

Let me know if you got anymore questions. I used to install stereos.

That sounds perfect so far, now above the 6 1/2" rear panel speakers...will my 4" round mid tweet fit?

I assume there is also a little tweeter on the top of the door where it says mach too eh?

Thanks

Pretty much if you go to a good shop they can install anything anywhere for the right price. But to answer your question, it will fit but you will have to finess it a lil. Yes that is a tweeter.

Any newer head unit can do this. You just have to know how.

I'm pretty sure that someone offers an adaptor or harness that works with the mach system. I'm not sure but i would def just give a quick call to crutchfield.

I'm assuming you need this harness for a mach and mach 460 sound systems eh? I was gonna put in a new head unit and new 5x7's this weekend, but was told I needed a way to trigger the factory amp etc.

Yes and no there's away that you can hook it up by bypassing the factory amp, but it will sound like crap. Go to a good stereo shop and ask them if they have the harness for a mach sound system. It will save you alot of headaches and wire working.

Just to confirm, the Mach system has amps as well or is it just the mach 460 system that has the amps?

This is for a convertible Mach 460 system, how does this differ from the plain Mach system? Just want to get an idea what i'm getting into if I decide to put in my stereo.

Trying to figure where the heck I can put a sub and not loose my trunk too...lol.

the wattage number but the 1000 watt has a small sub in the trunk. and is alot louder and smoother i personally have the 460 it sounds really clear too. if u want the extra bump go for the 1000.

The mach 1000 has 2 10 inch subs mounted on each side of the trunk facing towards each other and an amp rack display in the trunk, if you are interested, brandon aka bransdaman78 has the mach 1000 and I think he would be willing to sell it, either way if I were you and I was taking the time to replace the factory speakers, I'd also replace the stock amps, this is just me b/c I have been an installer and owner of a small custom car audio shop now for 7 years so if I do something .. i do it right the 1st time ...

Thanks for the input...not interested in putting another factory system back in the car, I have a system but not sure where to put a sub. Can I buy the factory box that has the 10" in it from the Mach 1000 system and put in a new sub? My car is a convertible as well, the damn trunk is like a glove box.

I just want to avoid buying a generic 10" sub box and have it stuck in my trunk, I'm also undecided on front speakers, I have nice Boston Acoustic 5x7's but really think I should be going components, I have components for the back, 6 1/2 round.

Guess I got some time, gonna go with Gears first, damn car revs like 1200 at 60mph.
