Didn't know I drive a Subaru.

Lately, sometimes when I start my car up, all the gauges will shoot right, then to the left and go to their normal positions at start up.

Kind of like what the WRX gauges do at start up

I don't know why its been doing this, maybe its b/c its cold out now or something but its only started doing it a few days ago. Has anyone else ever experienced this before?

I had that happen before my battery died. I think its your computer resetting itself but I could be wrong.

I've heard some say that your gauges will start doing this when your battery voltage starts getting low. My gauges have been doing that for the past several months and I haven't noticed any negative effects or causes.

These guys are correct, it does it when your battery is low.

No doubt it is either a dieing battery, or a loose terminal connection. Mine was doing this last week. Tightened the batter connection and drove it on a hwy run to get a good charge. Problem fixed.

It may not be a battery man. Same thing had been happening to me the last few days, went and looked at the wires into the terminal connectors, and one was barely holding on. Changed out the terminal connectors, and all is well.

I'm gonna go with related to electrical system in the car somehow. Troubleshooting 101-start at the most likely place(power source, or in this case the battery) and work your way back until you get to the end (your gauges/wiring for them) Are your terminals dirty at all? Like someone mentioned earlier this issue seems to come up every few weeks on here.
