So ive replaced a lot of window regulators and clamps on other vehicles and it is generally a pretty painless process. My passenger glass came out of the regulator yesterday so I removed the interior panel today to reset it. Well I found that the glass clamps on the regulator are set on the glass at the factory with polyurethane. At this point my plan was to clean out the old polyurethane and reset the glass myself, but it looks like it would be a huge pain in the ass to do so. Soooo, I call the ford dealership down the street to ask the service department a question and they tell me that resetting it as I planned was a bad idea and that it would most likely not hold and it could f up the regulator if the clamps are bent at all. So I ended up having to order a new glass with the clamps attached and then have it reset. I did manage to save about $200 getting a local glass shop to do this for me rather than the ford dealership.

Why does ford make it such a pain to fix this? Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did yall do to fix it?

Oh yeah...But at least it gave me a reason to have my windows re-tinted! got an appointment for tomorrow!
