Question

reverse glow guage install

Hey you all,

I got a set of reverse white face guages that go green at night, anyway. it says that you dont need to remove the needles, my question is do the little caps come off and not take the needles off? like a decrative cover that snaps over the needle holder? I hope that make sense...

ur gauge just slided over the top of the needles and the base of the needles...once you take the cluster out and remove the cover u just slide ur gauges over the needles

You probably have the one that is in three pieces right? If so as 00redgt said, you just slip them over the needles. No need to take anything off other than the cluster from the car. There should be some holes to help line it up and keep it in place.

yea its tha three piece, I got it off ebay, it looks decient, but they didnt give any instructions with it, all they did was send a link to an install on a exploder/ranger. and it seemed like there was a black cap ontop of the actual needle and holder... just wondering if it was the same, well, if they slide right over, does it look stupid installed? ie. can u see the small gap around the needles?

I got mine a long time ago for my 96 gt and it installed just like everyone elses has listed. The only thing that I had to do is take the little black pins out that the needles rest on when the power is off. They just pull strait out and you just put them back after its all installed. I don't know if they are like that now or not. I havn't installed any in a long while. The overlays that don't require the removal of the needles are nice. It's just alot more convenient and you don't have to worry about resetting the needles in the right spot.

I did find out in my case that it was more convenient for me to hook the power wire up to the hedlight switch. If I remember right the kit I bought (remember it was a long time ago) They just wanted you to hood up to a power source and use the dial knob to turn it on/off. Hopefully they are different now. Good Luck man and enjoy your new gauges.

Yup! Just hook the power to the power lead on the headlight switch and ground it to the metal bar that is behind the cluster.

Mine are cheap and off ebay, but they arnt the sameones u have, they are 3 piece, but they look exactly like the 03-04 cobras minus the svt logo and it has the redline at 6.5k. I like em after they were installed, I can run them either as blue or green, I am currently running them green.

It matches perfect with my phanthom autometer guages with the leds installed, I was happy. I would post a pic but for some reason me posting pics on this site dosnt work well for me...

Just from personal experience if u have the silver colored radio surround piece and shifter surround, it kinda looks out of place with the white face over the HVAC. Thats just IMO, I dont know if I even like the white face ac with the black but to each his own... BTW it can get funky to get the glow intensity to mach if u start mixing brands of parts, I ended up having to get the autometer led light adjuster to make it all look right and not be blinding...

If u can post the link to the one u are looking at on ebay.... BTW do u have a pic to post of your ebay glow guage at night?
