5.4 motor swap

First off, please dont flame me. I searched "5.4 motor swap" and "motor swap" and i dont know what i am doing wrong but it came back with 0 results.

That being said, has anyone done this. Will it work with our transmissions or no? And is there currently someone doing the swap now? And lastly, is it worth it or would it take tons of money to complete? Thanks guys.

there are quite a few 5.4 swaps floating around.

very straight forward & cost effective swap, as long as it meets your goals, it's very much worth doing.

its a direct bolt in, you have to do a few small love taps inside the oil pan, need an hps intake or adapter plates(band aids but work) and shorty headers or stock manifolds unless you want to pay some money for swap headers aka custom made by a few places.

very cool. I was going to buy a lincoln mark 8 and swap a 4.6 with 4 vavle heads, but i think ill look into a 5.4 swap instead. It would defiently be more original.

Yes our transmission bolts right up.

You can either use your manual or automatic trans

Iv already done the swap

It is worth doing, also its not a very expensive swap at all. My total came to about 2500 with an HPS intake manifold (800 bucks), FRPP headers (300) and the motor (1200). The rest was misc stuff

if i do the swap ill prolly just put stock longblock in for now just so i have the car running then i can get parts together for a built engine. i will also prolly turbo mine as well. but that wont be till later down the road. but why cant you use the stock intake off the 5.4 engine?

Ok the stock intake off a 5.4 sits up really high in the center. So high you would have to cut a hole in your hood for the plenium. Also the 5.4 intake is a terrible design for what you would like to use it for. Its built for low end torque like for towing and such. So replacing it with your PI intake with adapters OR a HPS intake manifold like i had you could make way better power and not have a hole in your hood.

The 5.4 should use the same oil pump as a 4.6. You might wanna buy another oil pickup tubes aswell which will also be the same as a 4.6

I haven't seen a single mild 5.4 2V swapped car outperform a 4.6 2V car with the same mods on the track. The extra torque is fun on the street, I'm sure, but on the track, it's a different story. So to me, who is primarily building a drag car, the extra cost to make the headers for the 5.4, and the limited intake choices make it a crappy choice when compared to the 4.6.

Now, I drool over Fastlane's Twin Turbo 5.4 DOHC car, but that's a completely different animal.
