Hmmm.

I've been running the idea of going 5.4 here lately through my head and I'm liking the idea the more I think about it. I know its been done many many times before but I'm not sure what all options there are for this swap.

Like what motor would be best, what all little odds n ends I'd need, what would be the most straight forward swap, what all could swap over from my current 4.6, have the long tubes issue been straightened out yet? etc, etc, etc.

I'm doing some research now but it's kind of overwhelming to me b/c I really can't find anything straight forward to get me in the right direction. I just did a search as well on here but nothing was coming up.

Yes. I've read through it a few times actually and have thought about doing it and still may consider it. The numbers, mainly the torque, you can get with the swap N/A is a big draw of it to me.

If I do any supercharging, I'm going with a p1sc.

go with the upgraded p1sc-1 or the d1sc. the standard p1sc falls in last place for decent blowers. i imagine this may upset some people but i have posted this several times. the p1sc has an old school impeller with strait veins and it cant compeat with the newer procharger units

I'll definitely go with the p1sc-1 forsure if I ultimately decide to stay 4.6, which I have a feeling a will but I like the idea of a 5.4 too much right now to just rule it out.

the 5.4 2v just isnt an n/a motor no matter how you cut it. it makes good tq, but not top end power. if you do get into a set up where you can rev it, then piston speed can get up there in a hurry. the 5.4 does fine on boost, and the longer rod is favorable for it. a built 4.6 will make good tq #'s and able to rev it where you set it up for.

Hmm, this is true, I guess I didn't really think that much into it yet. Sounds like I should just stick to building my 4.6 for now.

it really all comes down to your goals for the car, 5.4 swaps defenately have their place, but theres something to be said for the rpm capabilities of the 4.6.

on an mild N/A car that will see some track time, 5.4 is your only choice.
a serious track effort, dyno queen, d/d, cruise inn wanna be, etc, stick with the 4.6.

Sweet is correct

N/A the 5.4 is really a dog in stock form. Seriously lol
unless your read to throw some heads and cams on it before you even start dont bother. The stock heads and cams dont flow enough air to make any power past 4000 really.

Now if your boosting thats another story. They'll make more power for less boost.

I should be right up around 380-400 on 8psi or so

You can pull like 350 out of them N/A if you get some really agressive cams and heads. Probobly over 400 torque or so

Its up to you really. But dont plan on reving much over 5500...iv tried it once and she sounded like she wanted to blow to peices

Thanks guys. I'm just gonna stick with the 2v turd lol.
Will still be badass when I do all the power mods I want to it, so I'll definitely be satisfied.

I'm a bit in the same boat, but my current plans are for a mark 8 4v. Gonna build it up as much as I can n/a then prolly procharge. Good luck with whatever you do!
