NONE! STAY AWAY FROM VINYLS!

I will quote my posts from an old thread

I can say this cause I wasted the money on one of those rocky mountain graphics kit and the damn thing is sooo thin, scratches after the first wash and just doesnt look right

Heres a pic of mine. It is cost 7 bucks to do also did the spoiler

Scuff it up with a grey scotch bright pad, take off the emblems tape it off real good and coat even.

Make sure you get good paint tho not the cheap gloss that will fade. Get the industrial strength Rustoleum or something to that effect.

You can buy em at Lowes when you get the paint. Use it like a piece of sand paper and scuff the surface basically just sand the paint on your car till its not shinny anymore then your good. Do it to the truck lid obviously where you want to paint.

Then take you tape, tape off the section you want to paint and add paper around it so you dont get overspray on your car obviously.

Then take a spray bottle and pour a couple onces of rubbing alcohol in it and fill the rest with water. Spray down the surface you scuffed and wipe clean and dry with a lint free towel. Take a tack rag and run it back over the surface to get all left over dirt off.

Stand back and paint the area with good strokes.

One real light coat that you can still see through to give the rest of the paint a good base to stick to.

Then apply another coat that you cant see through, Let dry for 10 minutes or so and re coat one more time. More is not better 3 coats is FINE.

Then peel your paper and tape off let dry. Put new double sided tape on your emblems, stick them back on and you've got a blacked out trunk

Hope this helps.

Dont waste your money on that crap. Buy some vinyl inserts for the letters and call it good.

I have the lower bumper insert from rocky mountain graphics and I think its good quality.

The hood stripe thing would most likely be the same vinyl so I believe it would be good quality also.

idk what wrong with your vinyl but mine has 0 scratches and has been through many washes and sho no sign of scratches or swirls. but that is a good idea and would save money.

I made my vinyl blackout for around $15.

I did it in flat black. Now I am gonna redo it in gloss black. See what I like better.

I agree with Drick on this one and if my vinyl ever fails then im gonna paint mine also. I can't complain with mine though. I went too a sign shop to buy some vinyl and the owner gave me enough vinyl to do my whole rear minus the letters for free. I guess he was in a really good mood that day.

Yeah, that is what I am thinking. I have the vinyl sitting next to me as a matter of fact. I am going to take care of it next week after I detail the car.
