Unique build?

I have wanted to do a strange swap for a few days now. Tell me if you have ever heard of it. The 3.9V8 out of the Lincoln LS makes 280hp in its top level. Also the 5 speed automatic is something our cars just don't have. How do you think one of these would do in our cars?

I think with the 5 speed auto it would be a beast. Anyone know if it weighs less than our 4.6's?
and it looks as if they make anywhere from 230-255whp in stock trim. I'm sure with some bolt ons 275 wouldn't be hard.

For the mass amounts of money your going to spend trying to make this work you could get a much better platform to build.

Think about all the stuff your going to need...

Computer ( well there goes use of your gauges and will need to rig those up to work )
Crossmember and tranny mount since neither will be a simple drop in ( this will be a fair amount of work to find and since its not a common swap I dont think it will be cheap )
Driveshaft ( Not a big deal but you will have to get one cut/made to fit as it will be a different length than the stock one )

And those are just the four things that come quickly to mind. You will encounter countless hassles as you go ( but this will be for any swap and not just this one ).

Like I said, for the dime you would spend on everything I would hope to have more than 275hp before starting to build.

Why waist all that money. Get a built shortblock. ported heads and boost the hell out of it and im sure you will be happy. Or just do heads and cam to your motor you have now and you will be past that motor

the only thingthat would make me not want tp do it is there really isnt an aftermarket for these motors. Parts would be one off.

I had a buddy of mine with a 03 LS V8 and he had to dig deep to find any aftermarket power adders for this engine and even then he didnt find much. This was like 2 years ago, but I doubt the market has pushed more pieces for these engines. Only the LS and Jaguar S type carried these engines so no one picked them up and made power adders for them. You'll be literally fabricating almost everything for that engine and that will be a mission.

my mom has the LS V8 and her car runs right up there with my GT with only a catback system. And like Big Rob and Willy Mo said, we've looked for power adders for that engine with no luck. I will say though, the LS rides a hell of a lot better than a mustang

I love the lincoln LS but the motor should stay in the LS, not be swapped into a mustang. Although the idea is different, and would be neat, one would be going backwards in a build like that.

Gotta agree, that it seems like a lot of time and money for not much gain. I, however, would love to an LS V8, the whole car that is.

2.4L V8.

I think Lincoln used a small V8 to net a smoother running engine more so over power. The more cylinders you have make for a better balanced engine. Plus the fact that you get a V8 is more appealing than a V6.
