Heated PCV valve

I finished removing the EGR valve, solenoid, DPFE sensor, and bracket today on the Bullitt. While I'm there I start looking at this crazy PCV setup that runs coolant from the heater hose, around the PCV valve and around the vacuum connection on the manifold. I'm pretty sure the smart ford engineers went through all that trouble to heat the PCV for some reason, but I seriously can't think of one. Does anyone know?

that sounds a little crazy, im not sure about bullits but i have never seen that style of valve. i know my car has the older push in stlye but on the newer ones the diff i have seen is a larger hose and a twist off valve

The PCV still press fits into the valve cover, but it has a coolant line around it. I just don't understand why they would go through that trouble.

It must only be a Bullitt thing, I've never seen that before on the GTs.

I would remove all that coolant hose if were me.

That seems like a headache if coolant lines cracked. Sounds more like the work of the environmental side than ford engineers.

its a bullitt only thing. seems like some of the bullitt mustangs intended for colder climates had those. I have a bullitt intake swap and just plugged the lines and got a non heated PCV valve, so much cheaper.

There's a lot of water vapour in the crankcase fumes, and as other's have said this is likely a colder climate thing to keep the PCV valve from icing.

Odd that they would do it that way however--there are electrically heated PCV valves on some Fords?
