Cobra Brake Swap

hello, my brake pads started to squeak last night and since tomorrow is Christmas I would have some extra money to do an upgrade. I have a buddy who works at NAPA and another at Autozone. Both sell the cobra calipers for 77.00 and 83.00, theses are brand new rebuilds, neither offer a bracket though? They would allow me to use my GT calipers as a core(the core charge is about 50 each side) those prices are direct, not including the discount they can offer me. is this swap going to work with stock brackets? I would know that I would need pads and rotors

No, the Cobra caliper is made for a bigger rotor, it won't work on the stock one.

I knew that, I said it would need new pads and rotors, Im just trying to figure out if the whole caliper deal is actually worth it?

IIRC I don't think the front cobra brakes use a bracket like the gt brakes do. I believe they bolt directly do the spindle. The pads are pressed directly into the caliper itself and then slipped over the rotor instead of installing pads onto a bracket and slipping the caliper over them.

those cobra calipers wont bolt onto your car without the cobra/mach1/bullitt specific brackets man. they are entirely different and have more 'depth' to them to fit over the larger brake rotor.

i came across this problem too when i did my swap. you can get just calipers cheap but then those damn brackets haha.
every now and then you find them on EBay. like MPS auto salvage i think is the Ebay store. other than that try over on SVTPerformance classifieds. people part out 03/04 cobras, Mach1's and 99/01 cobras alot over there.

Ebay had none. I was kind of shocked. I guess I will check part outs but not many want to break the set apart
