Procharged now what?
Procharged and am very happy with the improvement, got the new wider wheels on the way. I cant help and think about what's next. Shop recommended a new crank & rods. Off what I've seen on here, most people add long-tubes and a set of cams to the setup. I know long-tubes are harder to install on an auto but i want it to be worth the gain if i buy some. Any advice? thanks guys

+1
After looking at before and after dynos, I was disappointed in my long tubes. You already have an o/r mid-pipe so LTs will give you mininal gains. I think the money would be better spent on a stall and cams.

thats where it sucks..if your not going to do it yourself cams and headers are pretty damn expensive...i got quoted 1k for headers and install (so roughly 4-5 bills for install maybe) from a performance shop but I think you can find better than that...I was just giving you a "ballpark" and I wish I knew about cams but dont have a clue
![]() EDIT: I searched for the cams install and found them anywhere from 3-5 hundred bucks maybe more...plus remember if you switch the sticks your going to need a tune too.....hell being s/c you might need a tune for headers too now that I think about but im not sure I think Baker installed his long tubes after the s/c too so maybe he would know

Cams: $550-$600
Valve Springs: $150-$250 Install for both: $900-$1000 Gains: 50-70rwhp Recommendation: MPH (Mr. Norm's Garage) Blower Cams Stall Converter: $700 Shift Kit: $70 Tranny Cooler: $70 Install: $500-$600 Gains: .4 - .6 off 1/4 Recommendation: BC Automotive, Circle D, or Dirty Dog for a converter. No less than a 3200 stall. Most will recommend a 3600-4000 stall. Aftermarket valve body or Jmod. B&M tranny cooler.

i know it sucks. two shop nearby one wanted $400 for a header install and $700 for cams. the other doesnt even want to bother installing cams, and they're the one's that did my gears and supercharger install and tunes. i guess i'll look around for a few months while i save up. thanks blownstang that list nails everything.

Don't bother with headers since you're already supercharged. You're going to pay anywhere from $600-$1200 for a header/midpipe combo + install (~$450) + a retune and you'll only gain ~15rwhp. If you do decide to do them I would recommend American Racing or Kooks because you can drop the auto trans without removing or loosening the passenger side.

Have you Look into Meth?

Cams, stall, headers....But depending on the power you want to make I'd be saving to build the bottom end before adding something like Water/Meth Injection. What boost are you running?
Also, depending on the cam you may have to look at new valve springs etc.

running 8.64 psi currently. yes there's so many options i'm just uncertain, but there's been some advice i havn't considered. the cams look like a certain to me, headers optional probably not unless i can find a really great deal. the stall is a definite. have never even thought of meth.

I don't think you'll need meth @ only 9psi.

you wont need the meth IMO and if you dont mind used you can find great deals on parts..like for instance i know someone selling longtubes and the x pipe together for $300 and I dont care what anyone says, used or not thats a hella deal for parts in GREAT condition....
On another note, I would suggest looking to beuild the block so you can up the boost, but at the same time..im not sure how much boost you want to run before upgrading supporting mods like tranny and rear diff just my .02

meth would depend on how hot it gets in summer time. i would think hard if you plan on building your motor. if you do plan on building your motor i would hold off on cams and invest in a 4500 stall, valve body/jmod, and a built rear end. most people will fight me on th worth of cams but why have plans of building a motor down the road and buying small cams now, when you can buy big cams with a built motor and piston notches. if you plan on keeping a stock motor cams is a good mod but i would work on drive trane first.

You're already cooling the air charge with the intercooler. You don't need another cooling mod like meth at 8.6psi. Depending on how much timing you have in the tune already you may not gain anything from adding meth at this time. An automatic is a lot easier on the rearend than a stick. I wouldn't worry about building up the rear right now. Staying at the same psi level and adding cams and longtubes if you decide to will add around 70-80rwhp. Making 450rwhp on a dyno jet with cams and low boost is much safer than increasing the boost without cams and trying to make 450rwhp. As long as you keep it around 9psi with cams and a good tune your motor will hold together.

4500 is a high stall but i promis he will love it. flashing a 4500 stall would be like getting a hard kick to nuts with out the pain, and all the shock!!
