275 tires on 8" rim

thanks, but that is his Business...him and 3 of his customers were in the 5.0 Mustang King of the Streets at the time I took that picture (in Bowling Green KY). That green Cobra traps 151mph in the 1/4 on those tires lol.

it's normal to see a 275 on a factory wheel OP

granted a nitto 555r will measure different in a 275 then a street tire, but i've run both with no issue

You will get a lil bulge but it is do-able. I wouldn't do it personally but as you see above, it can be done

A 275 mounts on an 8" wheel, but does not "fit" it

They are not a proper fit and will not wear, perform or grip as designed on such a wheel. Hell, a 275 is rated to fit a minimum of 9" wheel, but is still to large, IMO.

I use the 275/40-17 NT555DRs on the rear on my '03 when I race and it hooks up fine, better than when I used 245s. But I have mine M+B to a 17x9" rim. I just wouldn't put that size on a 17x8" myself.

True I had 275 bfg on my front 9" rim and it had a nasty bulge to it and the ride/turn felt kinda sloppy vs when I put 245s back on the front. And that was a slight bulge on a 9" rim not an 8"
