how can I shifter go bad???

I want to replace my shifter with a mgw shifter but my wifes motto is "if it aint broke don't mess with it"... so I guess my question is how do you know when the shifter goes bad? and if it's a 1:1,000,000 shot of it actually breaking I guess the question is how do you make it bad without making it look intentional? I dunno. what she doesn't know won't hurt her

in my experience, sledge hammers break stuff pretty well.

...... This is very true... Your kinda F* on this one cause i dont think that the linkage uses bushings on ours.. Ive never looked. But if it does you could say that sense the bushings are bad replace the shifter too...? IDK how to pull this one off.

OOOOO i got it.. tell her you need a bottle of blinker fluid and if she says yes.. then tell her that the cross syncros on the shifter are stripping and you need to get a new one

take a file to the ball at the bottom of the shifter.

NOTE: do not used the shifter after you file it.

sorry though... I think my wife is a lil more inclined then that... besides, I think I pulled that on her before and she may want to replace the blinker fluid in her car next

aww screw it... where can I find them cheap... might as well just get it and pull my other one out and tear apart so she can't say nothing, I could even be like "I don't know what happened babe , it fell apart when I took it out"

I got mine straight from MGW for like $175. Sometimes you can find them cheap on eBay. The site for MGW is www.MGWltd.com I believe.

Straight from MGW is the best.. +10 on fileing the ball of the shifter!!!! This will actually cause it to F* up!

Or, you could take a hack saw to your stock shifter stick.... Cut it a little bit then bend it... Keep the boot on it to hide the cut and tell her you shifted too hard and need a tougher shifter.

hmmm... maybe I could do all the above, but I only weigh 220 so I don't know what a stock shifter's tolerance is...
