mach 1 or gt 4v?

was thinking about getting a gt and if i wanted to make it faster i would make it 4v. Got a couple questions about this besides the fact that the mach one has 3.55 on the rear end and the gts dont would a gt 4v and mach 1 4v be equal in a race? also anyone know how much it would cost including labor so i can see if i should just buy a mach 1 from the start? and last question would the rev limiter go up on the gt if you make it 4v like the mach 1?

First of all ^^WTF^^

It all depends on what 4v set up youd go with. cobra heads, cams and intake? or mark VIII, or mach 1 heads, cams, ect.

If your goal is a 4v either way, just buy a mach. Then you dont have to do any work swapping top ends, or engines for that matter.

+1 to Willy.

As far as the rev limiter, it can/will be pushed up after you get the gt re tuned for the 4v motor. If you can't afford a Mach you can always get a cheap gt and swap in a Lincoln Mark 8 motor for cheap if you can do the labor. But like Willy said, go for the Mach if you can afford it. Or hell a Cobra if you are in that price range.

Get a Mach 1. Much better car stock for stock. And will hold value a lot more. Bone stock they run low 13's. My dads bone stock was running 13.2 @ 105mph.

Mach 1's look a lot better, seats are 10x better, handling is better, brakes are better etc... The 5 speeds also have a steel crank, and rev to 6800 rpm.

machs also have an aluminum block which weighs approximately 80 pounds less than the GT's iron block.

If you plan on boosting later on down the road, I believe the mach's came with higher CR...like 11:1. Just something to keep in mind.

If you can afford a low mileage gt you should be able to find a decent mach. Much better starting platform.

No, 10.1:1 is the stock CR on a Mach 1. And they can handle a reasonable amount of boost, like in the 8-9psi range. However, they do take real nicely to giggle gas in the form of a 75-125shot!

Thanks for the correction. I wasn't quite sure on the actual number.

if you just want to buy a decent car, get the mach, if you want a project, get a fox. The mach is a nice car and has plenty of room to grow, the gt will require that you do a lot of work to it after you buy it just to put it even with a stock mach.

yeah but. but get a Mach1. You bave a SRA, Alum block, 4v, good intake to port, nice interoir, exterior, and in the 5 speed a forged crank and the auto is a 4r75w. So easy to mod up nicely. Get the auto and a forged crank, h beams, and better pistons. since the termi pistons and the weak part. Do the same dish for high CR and boost the shit out of it! And no one will think it's fast but it will be faster then a termi with just weight alone.

I hear ya. I would prefer a a clean Mach over a not quite as clean cobra. Also everyone expects a cobra to be fast. Alot of Machs are about as slow as gt's. (w/o the drive mod that is.)

A mach with a good driver is pretty decent.

I see it like this. I have a GT because I can make it run good and look good for less money than a Mach. Granted if I had the money I would have a Mach 1. I say get the Mach 1 if you can get one for a cheaper amount of money. and if you are worried about the IRS in the Cobra you can always switch that out.
